If this deal goes through and Drinky leaves I wonder if we will be relying on Ndidi and Maguire to provide more creativity from the back with either this guy and/or Iborra sitting in under those circumstances.

N'didi has definitely been tasked with being the one to push on from what I've seen. His pass completion rate has dropped off a cliff because of it as well.

Drinkwater isn't even that creative. And from what I've seen of Krychowiak at Sevilla he can pass pretty well and is quick + physical defensively. He gets around the pitch very well.

Exactly, he was in the title winning season but reverted back to a more defensive player last season without Kante.

At a guess didn't we sign Inler whilst looking at this chap? if so then it's an old skool Pearson, Walsh Shakespeare signing. Perhaps he still sticks in in the mind of CS.

Errrr hello! Chelsea wanted this guy, even if we don't believe in our scouting system, surely they pretty much know what they are doing?

You may have missed it but Chelsea have never bid for this bloke and would clearly rather have drinkwater on their payroll.

Chelsea may want him but they can't buy him - they need English players or they face having a very small CL squad.

Which is my point, surely if he is good enough for Chelsea he is more than good enough for us

He isn't good enough for Chelsea - hence the fact he can't get in the psg team and that when looking for a new defensive minded midfielder they bought bakayoko. I don't believe for a second they want this guy. He isn't good enough for Chelsea.

Krychowiak and Iborra in midfield... Not sure if we're turning into Sevilla or West Brom by having two defensive midfielders.

We'd only be West Brom if we had 4 CBs and 4 DMs

Krychowiak as a holding/destroying midfielder protecting the back line and Wilf as a penetrating ( I can "feel" the puns already) force linking up with the forwards.

That's just about the thrust of it.

Apparently Harvey will be doing a U-turn and heading back your way. Can you confirm this? Take care whatever happens and all the best.

I can't possibly imagine this happening as it's a role for Iborra.... but he'd certainly strengthen the squad but is NOT really creative so I'm struggling to see if we lost DANNY and Mahrez what would happen. Also (forgetting last season) by the side of Kante DD was far more creative than people give him credit for.

It is coming back but as a tropical storm now.  We should be on the "clean" side of this this time though, and it'll be more rain and less wind.  Rain has been the problem here so far though. Will see what tonight brings.  Thanks for the kind thoughts!
