Chelsea need English players. If they didn't, I doubt they'd even want Drinky.

They should've just promoted Chaloba or Baker to their 25 then, for their fourth choice CM, saved them selves a few quid, and Danny's career!

Or Loftus-Cheek.

I agree it seems crazy that they lack English players so go for Drinkwater rather than giving one of their highly rated English youngster a chance to fill that squad player role. It sends out a terrible message to their youngsters that they'd rather sign a player like Drinkwater for up to £40m than give them a chance.

My polish my said he's sh*t. He only plays for the PSG reserves and he didn't even get called up for Poland!

Not true! As a half pole who actively follows the team, I can tell you that he has been one of the better players over the last few years. It's true he wasn't in the last round of games, but that's because he's not playing for PSG. Likely wants a move to ensure he's at the next WC like many others.

He's been surprisingly poor at PSG given that Unai Emery was his boss at Sevilla, and he has french football experience in the past but this is (was?) a great player. But was pivotal to Sevilla winning 2 Europa Leagues. In the Europa and Spanish teams of the year during his time at Sevilla.

Adjusting to the Premier League could be tough, but he has the physical part of the game to do it. Him and Iborra would essentially give us a large chunk of the central midfield that won the Europa League.  It's better to keep Drinkwater as he is tried and trusted in the Premier League but you could do a lot worse that this guy. He might even be an improvement.

As others have said, I expect him to go to Chelsea instead of Drinkwater.

My only worry about this guy is that he's a more defensive minded midfielder and I'm unsure he can be a creative player like Drinkwater. Very similar player to Iborra in my eyes.

They played together for Sevilla

Two things about this guy.

4231 or 433 with Krychowiak, Ndidi and Iborra would make sense but we are not changing systems though.

Krychowiak can also play CB so this may kill two birds with one stone in the eyes of Shakespeare.

This and the look for another CB could suggest a change in formation potentially?

Not sure how you figure.

This will only happen if DD goes (which I would highly doubt - but then John Percy) and we're clearly in need of another defender to replace the two we have who are, frankly, getting beyond their best.

Is not the replacement we need

We need a more dynamic, forward thinking player. Drinky aside we don't have a mobile CM that can pass well (most of the time)

I'm sure we could just nickname him Big Cabbage.

That should be a bit easier to pronounce

Really good player, be a great signing. But a poor replacement for DD. Would leave us with no creativity in midfield.

DD isn't even really that creative, our creativity comes from the wide areas. Only Cambiasso was particularly creative.

Someone capable of picking a pass out wide and the odd ball over the top would be like for like.
