The Normans centralized the government and certainly made the country more cohesive but England was united before that, and even if it hadn't been I think it's unlikely those smaller kingdoms would have survived long in a relatively small area.

 

Sans Normans we might have a more decentralized or federal country ala Germany.

There is an extremely high chance that will be a secession event, civil war or total neofascist takeover (not just the diet version like at present), or combination of all of them, in the US in the next decade. 

 

And its effects will be felt everywhere.

 

I just hope that I can come back to this in around that time and say that I was wrong, though.

Tbh I believe a transfer embargo doesn’t actually stop you buying either if your squad drops below a certain number.
So if on that number, let’s say 23, you could effectively do 1 out 1 in but the stipulation is that the new player can only have wages up to 75% of the leaving players…or something like that.

I don’t think that’s unpopular. The way the current government is going after the institutions, checks, balances and the separations of powers mirrors exactly what the likes of Bolsanaro, Putin and Orban did. I just hope they can hold like the judges managed to in Poland when they were being replaced with government plants. (The difference of course was Poland was under the ECJ and they stepped in and threatened Poland with sanctions, the US doesn’t really have so many supra-national institutions above it to protect against democratic erosion.

Yeah, the only real safeguard is the institutions and the people within the US itself.

 

And it may be that the cost of negating what the current administration is doing will be very, very high.

I like most of our ex players and wish them well. That includes Maguire, Maddison and Chilwell. Was happy for whoever would win between Maguire and Maddison last night, though Maddison was out injured.

 

It doesn't include Dennis Wise, obviously.
