When You're Smiling will never be a popular and successful song at the King Power because its fundamentally shit, sounds bad even when it's done well and people just don't want to sing it. The only ones that do, do so because they're desperate for us to have something vaguely traditional in our song book out of envy for clubs that do.

Much derided (by the same people) songs like the Ben Marshall chant and We Love You did far, far more for the atmosphere at the ground and it's a shame they died.

People who want to encourage singing at the ground should learn from those, keep it simple, keep it catchy, keep it poppy and uplifting. The Vichai chant, Jamie Vardy's having a party, the Ulloa chant also, these are fun to sing and easy to sing, WYS isn't.

While we're at it, We Only Love The Boys in Blue is awful as well. The chorus has / had massive potential but there's so many words rammed in to the verse that nobody has a clue what's going on or being said so the vast majority just wait for the chorus and yell a bit.

TLDR: less words per minute and more wooooah ooooh oooh = better atmosphere.

Well said Taff ...   this post should be cut and pasted as the foreword to  ‘The guide to football chants handbook’ ...    more wooooah oooooh ooh’s ....   hit the nail right on the head ! ...

My favourite is      Wesley Morgan is a blue is a blue is a blue ..   Wesley Morgan is a blue we hate Forest !!!   woooooah ooooh  ooh ...

Every song needs a woah oh oh in there somewhere. Preferably with jazz hands.

But in all seriousness, the Wes Morgan song is another one, it's absolutely simple as all ****, couple of lines, handful of words that scan easily and has a satisfying rhythm.

Simple songs for simple fans.

Think the wooooah oooh oooh  crap sounds as bad as the your shit crap.

Personally I like "when you're smiling". Every club should have their own chants but don't because they are morons.

Creating an atmosphere is just about making an effort. The much derided clappers create an atmosphere. Clapping and shouting create an atmosphere but most fans just want to moan and eat their crisps.

A simple website with chants and words where the morons can go, watch and then learn is the answer to fans not being able to sing chants with more than 4 words.

I only twigged a couple of months ago that the Ulloa song is Bad Moon Rising at like twice speed.

Loosely.

Very loosely.

Boxing is dying.

It isn't in this country. Most small hall shows still sell out and even when cards aren't great like Saturday arenas sell out in Liverpool, Birmingham etc

If Joshua fights Fury it will be a 90,000 sell out and do well over a million buys.

Because the name comes from the practice of householders allowing their servants a day off to receive a 'Christmas box' and go home to their families. I'm surprised you didn't know that.

There should be a minimum wage for skilled workers as well as the standard national minimum wage.

I'm all for the rise in the national minimum wage that was announced today, but the wages of skilled workers has not really risen for a long time, the wage gap between skilled and unskilled workers is decreasing rapidly.

I really think that there should be some sort of minimum wage for skilled workers too. If not, eventually minimum wage will catch up, and there will be very little incentive for people to train in skilled occupations.

It's probably the purest sport in the World.
