I loved the old Heinz curried beans. They came in the small tins and were perfect for jacket potatoes with cheese, then the beans on top.

They still do them, but aren't quite as nice as they used to be. Probably taken some of the sugar content out of the sauce. Can't remember where they're from but I'll find out.

I actually quite like James Corden :dunno:.

Sorry.

He’s alright. I think a lot of people who slag him off are just jealous of his success.

Thank you - it would be interesting to find out. What I make do with at present is ordinary baked beans with HP sauce and ground coriander stirred in.

I've reliably been told that they were purchased from Asda and Sainsburys. 95p per tin. Though only at specific local branches apparently, so it could be hot and miss if you find any. They're a green/blue colour then purple at the bottom.

I don't like Corden, could never watch Gavin and Stacy!!

Comedy is a very personal thing.

BTW Why should we be proud of something British simply because it is a success abroad?

I've never understood the whole I'm proud to be British thing.

How can you be proud of something over which you have no control?

You don't have to be, but some people are. When Brits win an Oscar or Grammy for example, some people are proud that they're from our country. What's wrong with celebrating British success abroad?

You were proud to be a Leicester fan when we won the league weren't you? Or when England won the World Cup?

Both of which you can no control over...

No, of course not.

I was all kinds of adjectives but proud wasn't one of them because it wasn't my achievement; it's no more meaningful than being proud to be left-handed.

Interesting.

I'd have thought that you'd have been extremely proud that Leicester won the league having invested (I'm guessing) at least 40 years of your life following them.

I'm sure you'll be proud of your daughter when she passes her driving test though? Even though it's not your achievement?

Of course, but I have had a huge input into making her who she is.

How anyone can't feel proud to be British when they see things like the words of Magna Carta enshrined somewhere abroad I can't understand.

If you didn't feel proud when Leicester won the league I don't really get why you bother with it?

Ill also bet you the ones who shout about not being proud to be British on our positive actions are often the first to be ashamed of it when it's a negative impact.

Because to do so is to be proud of an accident of birth; you are being proud of something that you had absolutely zero control over; you are being proud by association.

Frankly, it's weird.

So by that judgement nobody should really be proud of anything.
