mazarron fox Posted 19 September 2017 Posted 19 September 2017 Just thought I would throw it out there. I am 60 and have been supporting the club many years through thick and thin. Clearly the title win and following them in Europe was a dream come true. Now we have started to drift back towards our assumed status i.e. low to mid table and or even heaven forbid a yo yo club will the fans ever be happy again?. Our fans don't seem to have any more patience and lots don't seem to be enjoying the crazy ride that is LCFC. A player signs and is quickly written off, is the manager right? , have the owners lost the desire?. Reading foxestalk is becoming very depressing with what the fans who once liked to hope for now seem to expect. We gatecrashed the big boys party in spectacular fashion but we are not one of the big boys because of it! Yes it will always be our bragging rights that can never be taken away but don't let expectation ruin future dreams!
Fox92 Posted 19 September 2017 Posted 19 September 2017 I'll be happy when we play good football and have a midfielder that actually drives with the ball.
kingcarr21 Posted 19 September 2017 Posted 19 September 2017 I said this last season. I don't think it will ever be as good being a Leicester fan again. Nothing can top that title triumph. Even if we were to win it again or the champs league I don't think it would top the sheer disbelief of what we achieved 15-16. We have the memories. That in itself should mean Leicester fans can always be happy by revisiting the 15-16 season. We still have unfinished business in the FA cup also. So winning that would have make us happy again. Its a bizarre situation we find ourselves in
Finnegan Posted 19 September 2017 Posted 19 September 2017 We're Leicester, we're not meant to be happy. We only won the league so we could have the record for the worst ever defence of it.
mazarron fox Posted 19 September 2017 Author Posted 19 September 2017 Very well put that's it in a nutshell will never be topped yet gone in a blink of the eye
Captain... Posted 19 September 2017 Posted 19 September 2017 I will always be happy when I see 11 men in the royal blue playing their hearts out for the lads, win lose or draw if I think the players have left everything on the pitch I'll be happy.
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 19 September 2017 Posted 19 September 2017 No. The next 20+ seasons from here on in will be compared by the majority to 2015/16.
foxfanazer Posted 19 September 2017 Posted 19 September 2017 I'd like us to go back to the foundations that got us promoted us from the championship and ultimately that won us the league. Sign players to fit our system and that have a bit of hunger. Even teams like Burnley have their identity and ethos, we seem to have lost our way a bit. Recruitmemt has been nothing short of a shambles the past few windows so that'd be the first reshuffle I'd like to see be made. It's certainly not all doom and gloom though and I think some of our fans, particularly the new breed need a dose of reality. lets get back to being that in your face, pest of a team that nobody likes to play. Think we've turned a bit too nice

David Guiza Posted 19 September 2017 Posted 19 September 2017 I don't see why not. Of course we will perhaps never again rival the success of 2015/16 we will still have highs and lows, last minute goals, winning runs etc. I'm only 25 so I was fairly young for the MO'N years, but the ecstasy of that didn't mean that I didn't enjoy our 2009/10 play off foray or the year we won the Championship etc, just because it was of less value. I still feel as happy as I did when Leicester win and as annoyed when they lose as I did pre the infamous season. Sure, it's difficult to rival the daily anxiety of wondering if/when we were going to blow it but I'm too far into the social conditioning to stop caring because we're drawing to Huddersfield and not Atletico Madrid.
foxy boxing Posted 19 September 2017 Posted 19 September 2017 the expectation levels now are just not realistic, the fact is we are in a much better position than 90% of other clubs in this country! we are financially solid, regularly buy players in the transfer market and have a fantastic support. we still need to get a lot of things right at the football club and things need working on but we've achieved what people thought was impossible and the last few seasons have been so thrilling and exciting that fans think mid table stability is taking a step back!
fox_favourite Posted 19 September 2017 Posted 19 September 2017 This is like saying will there be world peace? The simple answer, No. You'll never please everyone...Ever!!
mozartfox Posted 19 September 2017 Posted 19 September 2017 FT needs something to moan about. Happiness would kill this Forum.

This really. It's not about winning stuff, it's about being excited watching your team. If the the team plays rubbish, negative and passionless football then the fans will be miserable even with a decent mid table finish. Football is about entertainment and excitement. The only match I enjoyed watching so far is the Arsenal one.
Guest MattP Posted 19 September 2017 Posted 19 September 2017 Probably not. Whether we like it or not we all know now deep down we've seen the best days the club will ever had, any club will ever have in fact, winning the league at 5000/1 just isn't something that is supposed to be real let alone happen to us. It was still worth it though, 100% a million times over.

I felt like i was sitting at Old Trafford or The Emirates at some points last season listening to our "new fans" moaning and complaining when we werent winning every game or playing Barcelona-esque football! Strangely, some of those faces had been sitting next to me for several years and cried tears of joy when we narrowly escaped relagation in 2014/15. How quickly the memory fades for some...! For those that were not there 6-7 seasons ago when we were in Div2/3, they wouldnt be complaining quite so loudly or constantly that we are not in the top half of the Prem League if they had suffered the years of misery that many of us others have in the lower leagues. For many, the expectancy levels are simply unaligned to the reality of our situation and they seem to think that everyone else wants to hear their voices noisily complaining about it. "Get real and get behind the manager and the team" is my simple message...!
WigstonWanderer Posted 19 September 2017 Posted 19 September 2017 Happiness depends to a large extent on outcomes versus expectations. For example Arsenal fans expect a lot and are unhappy with 4th or 5th, where we'd be more than satisfied. Winning the league rather upset the balance for most of us, and anything else was always going to be a letdown. But with expectations now settling back to ~ 8th - 17th, happiness will return with anything in the upper range for me, particularly if accompanied by matches that are decent to watch.
sly1 Posted 19 September 2017 Posted 19 September 2017 Just want us to play football we've just gone backwards it's like watching pearson allover again

A goodly few of us would be more than satisfied, but there seems to be plenty of supporters on here now with massive expectations that just probably can't be met. We would require a massive influx of money, talent and infrastructure, the stable door that was left open in 2015/16 has been firmly slammed shut. I'm more than happy that we finished top once in my lifetime, just waiting for us to win the FA Cup now

Nick Posted 19 September 2017 Posted 19 September 2017 LCFC just tweeted that they have given out 3 stadium bans... I'm waiting to see who tweets back asking if Adrien Silva is one of them...
Lovejoy Posted 19 September 2017 Posted 19 September 2017 I'll be happy when I've got something proper to moan about. You know, like administration, League One, or a modern day Josh Low. Until then, I'll be unhappy there's nothing to be really fed up about .
Guest Col city fan Posted 19 September 2017 Posted 19 September 2017 There is a school of thought that says it would be impossible to ever truly be happy again as a supporter of LCFC because the dream has been achieved AND achieved against all expectations. It wasn't like we'd gone out and done a Man City, spent a billion quid on players and be expected to be there or thereabouts. With us, it was a miracle. Having enjoyed that high, everything else that comes will be that bit less. Hand on heart, me and my mates (all nearly 50) would say that we've lived the dream. Anything else that comes now is like a bonus. Saying that, I would still get excited by a good cup run.
