Bournemouth Away Pre Match Thread

The away game at Bournemouth last year was one of the most annoying games I've ever seen us play. After about 20 minutes we had 11 men behind the ball and they just knocked it around. Was ridiculous to watch.

Stop with this 3 at the back insanity everyone.

Well said, sir! One hundred percent agree with you. Its now getting boring.

Oh I think we have a chance matey! But I do think it's about whether we actually go for it, or not.

For fooks sake, what are we so frightened of this season? We have players in our team who can destroy Brighton.

So let's do it!

Aye I know Col I just don't think we will though, as in I think it will be the usual cautious approach and we will be 2 down before we start playing

hope I'm wrong though

Shame we can't play them again!

too many on here think we won't win because we will fook it up. Not many giving Bournemouth enough credit.  if we are mentally right and the manager sets us up correctly then we can win. but I doubt we can get both those pre requisites right so I expect the cherries to take advantage.

I'm definitely losing the plot! I meant to write Bournemouth, and wrote Brighton...

If we can't beat Bournemouth then we are goosed. If we get beat by one then Shakey won't change it. He will say we were unlucky or the usual mantra. In a way getting a stuffing 3-0 may make everyone sit up and realise we need change. I'll leave it at that.

They've always had our number whilst we've both been in this division and even when we won the Championship they were the better team in both of our wins against them.

We should have beaten them last game of the season but the away game was horrifying. We'd come off the back of a great win vs Man City and the comeback vs Stoke I believe? And then we went there and we're negative, gutless and abysmal. It was the easiest win all season for them.

We've got to get in to them early and upset them, they are woeful at the back when exposed and if we high press and focus on the first 20 minutes then we might finally get a win there.

Gray has to start, he'll be eager to make an impression against the team who tried very hard to bring him in from us and I think we can afford to risk him and Mahrez together.

Schmeichel

Simpson

Morgan

Maguire

Fuchs

Ndidi

Iborra

Mahrez

Okazaki

Gray

Vardy

Can we just start pressing from the start rather than waiting for the opposition to score to remember we're in a match?

Well Albrighton provided the corner from which we scored our first and the cross to Gray in which we scored our second. I know out of the two I'd say had the better game. Seemed Mahrez had a really good spell in the second (?) half of playing in the middle and linking up play.

Look at this spin:

No Mahrez was totally in effective to ensure we affectively play another game with 10 men.

Shakey subbed him to a cheering crowd.

Remember three seasons ago when we played Newcastle.  They were on a horrible run, couldn't do a thing right, and we went to them and sat back defensively.  They gained a bit of confidence and put one past us and that kick started their season.

Bournemouth have had a similarly poor start but are arguably a better side than Newcastle were at that time.  If we are to learn anything from our history it's that we can't just sit back against teams that are fragile and hope to hold out or sneak one on the break.  We have the firepower to get at them and cause them problems from the off and if we don't do so then we'll be asking for trouble.

Oh okay I must have been seeing another playing with the number 26 in a floating role in the middle linking play. My mistake.

It only lasted a few minutes but it was his best part of the game.

So... Are we happy with a draw here?

Depends on the results that follow it. But outside the top 6, if you draw most of your away games and win most of your homes then you'll have a good season.

Totally correct.

I remember it being one of the most frustrating watches.

Two games prior we saw how playing on the front foot was the only way forward for us; the 5-3 Manure game.

Pearson then decided to negate our strengths by playing defensively starting with that Newcastle game.

Shakey was Pearson's tactician so it's no surprise we appear to be in a time warp.

Yes I think you were seeing another game.

The vast majority of posts on this thread (Algerians aside) have a similar opinion to mine, which leads me to believe in this case you are 'wide of the mark'.

Where does this come from? Him being Pearson's tactician was only ever thrown about when we were winning as a reason to take any credit away from Pearson. Now the same thing seems to be used to discredit Shakespeare, by the people who didn't like Pearson.

We didn't beat them home or away during 15/16 season, I seem to remember that season turned out ok. We haven't actually beaten them since they got to the PL.

Bournemouth are a decent side, yes we should be beating them, but just turning up will not be enough.

This, with Iheanacho coming on for Okazaki at half-time. Partly because Okazaki can be very useful for 45mins at maximum energy, but struggles after that, but also, we have a 25million pound rated player sat on the bench, who really should be given a run in the team. He has enormous quality and should be on the pitch.

Think Albrighton is ahead of Mahrez currently, but in this formation, maybe Mahrez would see more of the ball and have less defensive duties to deal with.

Come in Babs.  Its been proven time and again that this was the case.

I'm going to presume that's sarcasm? You never can be sure.
