And THIS is why fans of clubs outside the big 6 get annoyed with the England Squad selections...

Gareth Southgate has announced that he plans to include Dele Alli in the England squad, even if he is suspended for both games.

What's the point? why not give someone else a chance? Not only do fringe players of the big 6 get called up over regular starters for midtable premier league clubs, purely for the fact that they play for a big 6 club, but now the big names are getting selected even when they won't be eligible to play.

In all fairness I see advantages to this. What's the point in calling up someone to not play them and never call them up again? Might aswell get your regular guy in for training/bonding.

What if alli is suspended for 2 games at the world cup?

Ignoring players will be the downfall of Southgate when England inevitably get knocked out next summer.

Bring in a U21 player who's earmarked for the senior squad in a year's time or two... ?

Gareth Southgate and Dele Alli. Great lads.

Who cares about England anymore? Every time they come around I can't wait until the international breaks are over.

I'll watch the World Cup, but only because I like football.

The only good thing about international football is it gives me an excuse to go to the pub for three games every other summer and get trolleyed with mates. Wouldn't bat an eyelid if they scrapped the whole idea.

No, can't agree. It just creates a closed shop, jobs for the boys image.

A huge own goal.

They've pixelated the middle finger gesture in the sky sports link.

Pathetic.

i'm more annoyed at this than him being included in the squad lol

Must be living under a rock if you don't know what he's under investigation for and pixelating the picture, ironically, doesn't hide the fact he's doing something wrong or gesturing something offensive lol

Well, lets be honest, the chances of someone else coming in and playing is pretty slim isnt it? They probably wouldnt even make the bench...

Adam Lallana is currently injured. Maybe he should get called up to todays squad to watch in the stands with Alli, because, lets be honest, they're both practically guaranteed to make the world cup squad, so why give anyone else the chance?

But this in the WC Quali's thread... seems apt in here too...

David Brooks becomes the second English teenager to choose Wales in the last couple of months.

Good for him and Ethan Ampadou, clearly feel they have more of a chance of breaking in earlier.

I do think watching England play has a lot to do with it though, I've watched Wales last couple of internationals and genuinely enjoyed them and the atmosphere. There's none of that with England, no spark that would make youngsters want to commit to going through the age levels.

I'd imaging playing alongside Bale and Ramsay is a little more attractive than Henderson and ****ing Livermore too!

This is why Southgate got the job a nice yes man picking players from the top 4... premiership brand and all that.

One of the problems we have is managers picking what they see as the best players rather than picking the best team.

Well with Lallana being injured he wont be able to take part in the training sessions and get used to the tactics that Soutgate is trying to implement.... I'm wondering if thats  whats going on here- he wants those he knows will probably go to get used to how we plays.... and im not saying i disagree with you... but we have tried doing what you are talking about for the last 30 years now and where has that got us? England have been crap for years now.... he's not really got a full 4 years to get our best players up to speed on the way he plays.. and get them used to playing that way

I don't get the problem.  If a Leicester player is suspended, they still have to train and attend the game, so why any different for England.

Alli is an automatic starter for the national team so it's worth getting him to train with the squad, especially as England get few opportunities to train together.

It says everything about the lack of other options. I don't think it's a big deal personally and it can potentially be seen as a good thing that Ali is willing to join up with the squad even though he won't play.

We always pick a massive squad anyway and they'd be an outcry if they called up someone who is bound to be shit to replace Alli.

Why can't Alli just not go along and not be part of the selected squad?

I think ( just a guess) that Southgate is wanting him to take part in the training sessions.... but what if he gets injured? If he is  officially picked in the England squad, he is covered by Englands insurance... If he is not officially in a squad but still takes part in the training sessions, then he wont be covered in case of accident/ injury...

I find England impossible to get behind anymore. I just cannot wish success upon that utter shambles. It deserves everything but.
