Buzzell Posted 2 October 2017 Posted 2 October 2017 I'll always remember watching King score two fantastic goals against West Ham at Upton Park even though we lost 3-2 back in 2011. His second was an absolute rocket. Top bin.
Koke Posted 2 October 2017 Posted 2 October 2017 King has scored some bangers for us. My personal favourite is Coventry away when he elegantly chipped the keeper from a tight angle. Southampton at home was a belter. Numerous headers with late runs to the box. I went mental when he put us 3-2 up away at Cardiff only for Kermogant to fluff his pen. I miss the King that was a goal threat.

Koke Posted 2 October 2017 Posted 2 October 2017 2:17 - that goal wouldn't look out of place at a Champions League game. So easy and so elegant.

Will be very disappointed if he doesn't get one. But let's not pretend he's been a key player for us at all in a very long time. He's not been consistently excellent since League One and the season after our Championship return. He was pretty excellent under Sven too.

Don't rate him and didn't think he was special at the level below either (granted too good for League 1). As a person though he seems top class. Still, I'm a supporter of LCFC not his friend and seeing him stink out the middle of the pitch at this level while picking up massive wages grates. From 2009 to 2013 he was fantastic. He scored nearly 50 goals in 5 seasons for the club, from midfield. Obviously since about 2014 he's been pretty damn average. I love the man but if anybody has been loyal here it is the club. They could have shipped him out to Derby or some average Championship club at any point in the ladt 3 years but instead they've given him a Premier League contract and played him in the Champions League. King doesn't belong at this level.

He never sulks and always works hard when he's called on. He is the absolute definition of a Leicester City legend. Andy King was a decent player at Leauge One & Championship. But since we're promoted to Premier League, he has looked completely lost many, many time. This guy is on his prime years as a footballer, but he's been willing to ride the bench. No EPL club were interested to sign King since he's flat-out not good enough & King isn't willing to become a starter elsewhere with much lower wage than he's in LCFC. Andy King used to be a good servent few years ago, but it's a bit overkill to suggest that he's a LCFC Legend. The likes of Vardy, Mahrez, Schmeichel etc. have achieved legendary status.
LCFC1996 Posted 2 October 2017 Posted 2 October 2017 Anybody suggesting he isn't a club legend is frankly a bit of a ****

ScouseFox Posted 2 October 2017 Posted 2 October 2017 my favourite player to ever play the game. the king.
KingsX Posted 2 October 2017 Posted 2 October 2017 It's his name and number on the back of my City shirts. A big part of why I started following the club. Glad for a thread to concentrate on his many positive contributions. Hope it stays non-toxic.

BlueTillIDie Posted 2 October 2017 Posted 2 October 2017 Always remember that superb performance at Bournmouth away not many have ever achieved it but he did......subbed at half time. On a serious note he has been a great servant to the club and should be respected for all his years here, is he going to help us progress? probably not but a solid squad player.
Grebfromgrebland Posted 2 October 2017 Posted 2 October 2017 I remember when Andy scored a load of goals in league one and I thought we've got our own Gerrard or lampard then his style changed and he got ousted by better players and he found his rightful place in the squad about 3rd to 5th choice midfielder. But when he did get called upon he generally had good games and has popped up with some really vital goals in the last few seasons. Then, this had probably never happened at a club before, but he has moved from 4th choice midfielder to automatic starter this season. It's a real shame that his 10 year anniversary coincides with him having to start games as the senior midfielder in this shambolic team as it is tarnishing all the good years he gave us. He should be no where near the first team squad but he is through no fault of his own, it's not his fault we don't have any midfielders of any quality able to play, and he needs our support. The club have let players like him down big time making him play instead of hanging out in Costa coffee in Oadby I bet he feels cheated by the way things have turned out.
SystonFox Posted 2 October 2017 Posted 2 October 2017 Didn’t he win MOTM in one of the CL home games? Copenhagen? what a man. An absolute legend. My 2 year old sings the Andy king song, it may not be so true these days but I will be telling my lad stories of Andy King in years to come. The definition of a legend and he’s all ours
walkerleeds Posted 2 October 2017 Posted 2 October 2017 Random ones but think his goals versus Scunthorpe and Preston away are my favourites. And obviously the goal on trophy day. What a man.
mozartfox Posted 3 October 2017 Posted 3 October 2017 Great Club servant. Deserves more respect tbf. More productive than Rudkin's 16 plus years??

Totally agree - he was like another Frank Lampard at one point, and most lethal finisher in the squad. Who knows what would have happened (for him) if that continued - although, you could argue that he has the medals to justify it all... Always a legend and cult hero but as you said, Koke, I miss that elegant, lethal, late running, goal scoring Kingy.
Guest Col city fan Posted 3 October 2017 Posted 3 October 2017 One of my favourite ever City players. The fact that he's starting most games at the moment, when he shouldn't be, says far more about the state of the club than about Andy King. Andy has always been a great 'squad player'. Deputising when needed. The club has made our midfield painfully thin, which is why I don't like seeing King getting slated like this. Blame LCFC, which at present appears to be run in a completely amateurish way. Don't blame King who has never moaned, complained, not tried, looked to leave etc etc etc,

What a load of crap. Kingy is a club legend like it or not 10 years service says that and 369 appearances also. All them important goals he's scored over the years is easily forgot about.
Voll Blau Posted 3 October 2017 Posted 3 October 2017 The Filbert Street Goals Twitter account was showing loads of King goals yesterday to mark the occasion. You really do forget just how many bangers and important goals he's scored for us.
