ian_marshall Posted 11 October 2017 Posted 11 October 2017 Surely a four hour gap between us and the Tiger's would have to be between games, i.e. End of one game to the start of the other. Presumably this would make it virtually impossible for us to play on Christmas Eve unless we kicked off at say 10am and the Tiger's game was moved to 4pm, otherwise if BT refused to change the kick off time for the Tiger's we'd need to kick off at 9am.
1972 Fox Posted 11 October 2017 Posted 11 October 2017 What I can't quite understand is that the authorities have always said in recent years that City and Tigers can't play at home on the same day as they haven't got the manpower to cope with the two crowds. Now all of a sudden it seems to be open to negotiation because Sky and the Premier League have the money to throw their weight around. I really hope the authorities concerned refuse to yield. But we should never underestimate the 'root of all evil'.

All the utter guff you hear about kick offs being moved for "safety of fans" etc... is just that, when Sky come knocking they take priority over everything. That Ipswich game was the most ridiculous game I've ever seen and absolutely no way should it have gone ahead, yet because Sky had it, it did. Now to totally contradict that, James Sharpe reckons it isn't happening. Won't believe it until it doesn't happen though.

As it stands, Sky have to convince Tigers, Saracens and BT to move the game. 11 am kick off for us with 3 pm Tigers is even more madness. To add we must resist this on the grounds of our players safety and welfare too. We play on 24th, we play on 26th and 30th. That extra day rest will be very important - particularly as training on Xmas Day will be solely recovery. I think we'd get points deducted for failing to fulfill the fixture.
HybridFox Posted 11 October 2017 Posted 11 October 2017 The police and council can truly take a stand on this. Sky need to be told. It would speak volumes if our authorities are going to let them trample all over us as they wish.

Makes the house smell Christmasy though. It sounds similar to my Christmas punch recipe. I mix sherry, mulled wine, Buck's Fizz, cider, Stella, a golden ale or two, white wine, red wine, chocolate wine, whiskey and then swing for anyone who gets close enough.
Wymsey Posted 11 October 2017 Posted 11 October 2017 Daily Star says the game won't be played on the Sunday, due to the strain on police if this had been arranged alongside the Tigers' home game.
st albans fox Posted 12 October 2017 Posted 12 October 2017 This could become the new 'siggurdson thread' pages and pages of stuff about something that isn't going to happen ........ actually, thinking about it, that's the silva thread ?
sylofox Posted 12 October 2017 Posted 12 October 2017 Why do people seem to think the Tigers game will move? What the feck would BT gain from helping out the competition. Oh and people really think Sky will go begging to BT so BT can tell them to fvck off. Or Sky have to give up first choice options at the end of the season.
fazzyfox Posted 12 October 2017 Posted 12 October 2017 Just hope that Sky don't realise that Forest aren't playing that day, next thing you know they'll be insisting that we play it there. So whatever you do don't be giving them any ideas by putting it in forums etc.
Foxes_Trust Posted 15 October 2017 Posted 15 October 2017 The Premier League Trusts have worked hard lobbying Sky, the Premier League, individual clubs and political figures (hence the Tom Watson statement earlier in this discussion), the lobbying commenced with http://foxestrust.co.uk/5752/supporter-groups-say-no-to-christmas-eve-football We sent the statement to LCFC (as did respective Trust's to their clubs). as various games were rumoured to be selected, Trusts from the "away" club from each fixture spoke to Sky directly about the difficulties faced in their individual cases. The statement by Richard Scudamore about no 4pm kick off was made at the Premier League fans meeting with the Premier League (held twice per year), the Foxes Trust were represented at the meeting, where it was stated the PL did not expect such a toxic reaction from fans against Christmas Eve games. There is no doubt that the work that went on lobbying hit home hard on this occasion, fans can make a difference with organised campaigns
ScouseFox Posted 15 October 2017 Posted 15 October 2017 would be 10/10 if we played mad friday. wouldn’t even know the score til new year.

jammie82uk Posted 19 October 2017 Posted 19 October 2017 Seems this game will be on tv after all 19:45 on the 23rd December

The December ones probably took some extra time to adjust due to the Christmas "issues".
davieG Posted 19 October 2017 Posted 19 October 2017 Quote Leicester City's home clash with Manchester United has been moved to the Saturday night before Christmas, it is being reported. The fixture is being switched from 3pm on Saturday, December 23, to a 7.45pm kick-off in an unprecedented move by Sky TV. There has been no confirmation from Sky, who are expected to announce their Christmas fixtures later today. Sky had wanted to screen the fixture on the Sunday, Christmas Eve, but that was ruled out on safety grounds as Leicester Tigers are already playing on Christmas Eve. There were concerns about having 55,000 fans just half-a-mile apart, with Tigers set for a big game against Saracens at Welford Road. Police were insisting on a four-gap between kick-off times. Tigers are kicking off at 3pm on Christmas Eve. The problems surrounding the timings led to Sky dropping their plans to screen City's clash at the King Power Stadium and looking at alternatives. They have now plumped for a 7.45pm kick-off on the Saturday. Clubs have no right to veto any kick-off time under their £4.2billion deal with Sky. While fans are used to fixtures on Friday nights, Saturday lunch-time and tea-time plus Sunday afternoons, a Saturday night TV fixture has never featured before. Merc This is all because they feel they must show Man U whoever they are playing.
Wymsey Posted 19 October 2017 Posted 19 October 2017 Wish the Premier League had some sort of winter break/reduce the amount of international friendly games, as there's not much time for players to rest over this period really.
