Makes me sick that there are people out there that believe that Wes isn't good enough to be the captain of our club.

This is a man that captained us to the play offs, the Championship title, the great escape, the Premier League title and then the Champions League quarter finals is somehow not good enough at his job.

He may not be good enough to play in the first team every week (In my opinion he is) but he clearly has a huge influence on this club. He's overseen one of (if not the) most successful period in our history. Wish people would show him some damn respect.

That’s all well and good, but it’s in the past.

A Captain ideally should be a leader and vocal; Wes is neither.

We have to do our best in the here and now, and we should move on.

Iborra would fit the bill, but it’s a bit early for him, after a couple of good games I admit!

Your only experience of Wes Morgan talking is when he's had a microphone shoved into his face. His ability to talk to a stranger when a microphone and camera is pointing at him is completely irrelevant when we're talking about being a leader of men.

He's clearly a leader and a vocal member of the dressing room. How can you possibly think otherwise?

It's why Nige, Ranieri, Shakey and (most likely) Puel have had him as the club captain.

I think people are genuinely losing the plot.

Morgan has been fantastic this season, there's absolutely no reason for him to be dropped, let alone strip him of the captaincy.

Why is there such an obsession with getting rid of him?!

I think he has been far from fantastic. He seems to be back to his lumbering reactive days (last ditch blocks are not the thing of quality defenders). His poise in the ball was never great but he looks worse than ever now. And to be honest I don’t see a huge amount of his leadership on the pitch when things aren’t going well

His style of play stunk out St Mary’s last season, they were appalling to watch. I hope they is a clause in his deal allowing to sack him.

You sound like a broken record.

No he hardly communicates / talks on the pitch.

Deal with it!

lol And you've spent a lot of time with him on the pitch, yeah?

Whatever you think of wes he is getting on in years and I think you will have to phase him and huth out of the team. Tbh wes has looked ok so far this season but I would like to see more of dragovic whether that's in a 442 or with 3 at the back. I know huth hasnt played yet this season but it does worry me the lack of pace at the back if he and wes play. It is a difficult one because Maguire looked so good early on but in later games wes has looked better.

He may not be good enough to play???

How is he going to captain on the pitch then?

Club captain s roles are 90% off the pitch.

I expect every senior player to be a captain during the match.

well that is never going to happen. If so what is the point of a captain.

A captain Is someone that leads, he motivates, he keeps the team in check and most importantly he represents the team. When things get tough they are relied upon and direct teammates in position and most importantly remaine composed.

i don’t think wes has done a great job off any of the above. If anything wes is the one the sets the panic in by just blasting the ball up the pitch and constantly putting us straight back under pressure

Posted

I would expect my senior members to be leaders on the pitch and help inexperienced and youth player, but the captain must have 100% trust from the manager on and off the pitch.

i don’t think many have 100% faith in Wes anymore. 2 cbs out of huth drag Morgan Maguire benny and not many would have Wes as no1

He's on now. Seems nice. Decent English after all.

Yeah, everyone made it seem like he communicated with Mongolian Throat Singing or something.

People going on about ****ing captains again like it actually means something these days. What a load of bollocks, a leader is a leader whether they have an armband or not.
