FoxFossil Posted 27 October 2017 Posted 27 October 2017 Close thread. Claude says he wants to look at his current players before looking for replacements, given transfer window us closed until January, nothing, repeat nothing is happening until then. Claude looks to be a bit of a thinker, so expect evolution rather than a French Revolution.

mozartfox Posted 28 October 2017 Posted 28 October 2017 Perhaps he may appreciate FT giving him their collective January ‘to be binned (if possible)’ listing?
dooflip Posted 28 October 2017 Posted 28 October 2017 Kind of see the point in all of the arguments and opinions on this. my personal opinion is that soon, mahrez will be off. gray is a fantastic young player, but I doubt wether he can be relied on week in week out at this stage - can’t wait for him to prove me wrong! ben arfa has been trouble wherever he has been, apart from under Puel at nice, that’s fact and we all know it. however, Puel is proven to get the best out of him, and failing players - I think that is part of the reason he’s here if I’m honest. if we can get Ben arfa on the cheap, as a stop gap until gray is ready to play consistently with end product every week, then I would 100% do it. It’s good business and makes sense imo. puel can fix Ben arfa again and get the best out of him. And when playing well Ben arfa is as good as mahrez no question. They are similar players. I think this is our closest hope of getting a mahrez replacement that is as good as mahrez, and similar to him. We are no longer an attractive proposition, and no longer able to attract top players, we missed that chance. for me, for these reasons it makes 100% sense. Many will disagree and I understand your reasons, but these are my thoughts.
stu Posted 29 October 2017 Posted 29 October 2017 Anyone foresee Ben Arfa playing where Mahrez played today when he inevitably leaves in January?

Opponents double mark Ryad and have figured out that approach to our game. They would have to do the same to Ben Arfa which would create more space for either player to exploit. We cant go relying on ryads magic game after game. Would love to see Ben Arfa here. He's 31 not a kid really but still got life in him for two three seasons if gray carries on the way he is then we won't have to worry about this anymore

He was playing under Mike ashley, then was shipped off to Hull. I'd be in a bad mood too playing for those clubs. Maybe because that was his attitude.

Harry96 Posted 30 October 2017 Posted 30 October 2017 He could be very good and fill in the big hole when and if mahrez leaves.
breadandcheese Posted 30 October 2017 Posted 30 October 2017 I really don't want Ben Arfa. We used to sign players, checking their temperament to ensure they'd buy into a certain team spirit and work ethic. We've already drifted away from this with some of our signings and it shows.

Dr Marco Posted 30 October 2017 Posted 30 October 2017 Ben Arfa had only one good season in his whole career. He's 30. Overrated

But still be gutted if he goes. Sign him if puel believes in him two good seasons would do me I love football for that skill .
shen Posted 30 October 2017 Posted 30 October 2017 So the nextmost recent high-profile transfer botch is being linked to us before we've even got the most recent transfer botch available in the team

You're either Leicester or you're not. Player or supporter. What are you? Such a shame that we're not all hardcore like you. I too can laugh about players who turn us down then failing BUT it seems childish to want one of the Premier league winners to fail.
Wymsey Posted 30 October 2017 Posted 30 October 2017 Honestly don't think he'd improve on what the team already has already.

FoxinNotts Posted 30 October 2017 Posted 30 October 2017 I'd be amazed if Mahrez is still here by the end of Jan. We need to make plans to replace him. Ben Arfa must be on that list, maybe n loan for the rest of the season
