Leicester City now have one of the top 20 most valuable squads in European football, according to a new report.

City’s squad is valued at 417million euros putting them 19th in European football and seventh in the Premier League.

The data has been collected by the Football Observatory, a Swiss-based international centre for sports studies, and values Manchester City’s squad as the most valuable at £1.196billion, ahead of Tottenham at 1.173bn and Barcelona at 1.130bn

The Football Observatory claims to use a scientific method to value players taking into account the type of club likely to be interested in that player.

It also analyses data from OptaPro to measure the player’s performance and takes into account the player’s age and length of contract.

Generic Andy King/Leonardo Ulloa joke

Just think how much more the squad would be worth without King and Ulloa! :ulloa:

Spurs are apparently the second most valuable squad in Europe despite, in the last 2 seasons, having failed to reach a final of any domestic cup, including the Checkatrade Trophy, being knocked out of 3 European competitions at the Round of 16, Group Stages and Round of 32 within the space of 9 months, and having spent no more than thirteen minutes on top of their domestic league.

Just imagine how much more valuable they'll be if they ever actually win something!

The Spurs love-in is incredible, isn't it?

The core of their team failed resolutely at domestic AND international stage. They haven't done anything of note. Beating Madrid 3 - 1 is their zenith and people have taken it as an affirmation that they're into the big time.

In my lifetime they've won less than Leicester. They've won less than a lot of teams.

I get that Harry Kane is a good player, great even. But that isn't an indicator of being big time. He'll be off as soon as he realises he needs silverware. Dele Alli, for all his talent, is an odious human being and transparent in his attempts to 'build a brand'. He's not a likable person and I don't think he's going to sustain his level - think Jack Wilshere. Alli's attempts at forcing himself richer will come at the detriment of his career. I can't wait either. He's awful. And all that chest crossing when he comes on - what is that garbage about? That's blatantly something he's built into his game to get noticed, to have a trademark action that'll make it onto Fifa. Much like his ridiculous handshakes with Kane - he needs to grow f up.

I'm sick of Spurs. I hate everything about the club, the fans and the players. Even scrounging their way into the national stadium. It has completely devalued a trip to Wembley ; the pinnacle of some player's careers, playing at Wembley, has been cheapened because Spurs want to beg, borrow and steal their way into a new stadium.

Good grief. They're the absolute worst.

No. This isn't it. There's no element to comedy about it.

If they were to fold tomorrow I'd be delighted. I don't feel the same way about any other team.

They're the worst. The actual area is a complete shit hole too. There are no redeeming qualities. If I lived there I'd be the first in front of an underground train. Disgusting place, disgusting club, disgusting fans.

I'm just sick of it. It harks back to the Liverpool bias except spurs haven't actually won anything. They went out of two European competitions before we had left one and still managed to carp on about coefficients.

The media love them why? I don't get it and it makes me angry.

Think you may be over reacting a bit too much to an article that just highlights the rather correct fact that they have high value players, which is a lot  to do with their low average age, the fact they've a lot of English players and most are tied down to long term contracts.

but you know you're on a role with this directionless ranting thing and it's amusing. So carry on.

i mean playing devils advocat I'd be wondering why some of or lot are still worth so much given we've barely seen the top half of the table since winning the league.

Albrighton  £19.4m lol

I dunno, I'd say that's about right to be honest.

He's not in a good patch of form at the moment, but he's criminally underrated. On his day his work-rate and final ball are devastating for our counter-attacks.
