Oumar Niasse: Everton striker banned for two games for diving

The player is punished quite rightly, but should not the club also be deducted points as well. This incident resulted in Everton gaining a draw and one point and Crystal Palace loosing two points. The possible consequences at the end of the season are enormous , just that  one point could be the difference from staying up in the PL or relegation or a place in the Champions League

Oh come on. Are you going to start doing that for fouls which deny goalscoring opportunities too? Unpunished handballs? There's absolutely no way you can guarantee how a certain decision made differently would have changed a game.

Seems ridiculous that if he'd been caught at the time he'd only have been booked. And by that I mean it should be a straight red and a 3 match ban if caught diving at any time.

And also is this the first time it's happened? Surely they don't expect us to think this is the first time a referee has missed a dive this season.

Maybe there could be a point deduction the second time in a season that a club had a player banned for diving? Could just ban the player and fine the club for "failing to control its players" first time?

Seems a bit harsh to deduct points from a club the very first time that some idiot of a player throws himself down.

If one player from a club got banned, then others carried on diving, that would be more of a sign that the club wasn't discouraging it adequately - or maybe even encouraging it.

Seems harsher when Palace get relegated by 2 points..... well to them anyway, personally think it will be bloody hilarious.

Not only the club should be punished but also the manager. He must be thrown in jail for failing to teach good football ethics.

Let's not forget the other players who were on the pitch and didn't prevent him to dive. Oh and the subs too, that should teach them.

Last but not least the club's city should pay a fine too. 1M pounds sounds about right for the moral and material prejudices caused to the opponent.

What makes it worse is that unsworth comes out and defends the player saying there was contact. I don't think you'll ever see point deduction for diving. It would stop it but there would be too much debate also the Premier League would never deduct the top sides points which you could argue is where the majority comes from.

Both on (poor form, and now this incident) and off the pitch (poor, expensive recruitment and getting fines over fans' conduct), Everton's season is getting more worse.

Actually might be best for them to go down, amid a massive wake-up call if this happens!.., sort themselves out and get up going again.

Not a boring team, though, for sure.

no, but it's the first time someone's been punished.

An Alli incident and a Richarlison incident were both reviewed by the panel and they were deemed not to have dived.

Yes it was a dive but can’t help feeling he’s a safe target. There’s been worse dives that have resulted in a penalty this season and they’ve not resulted in this ban. I don’t mind if they are consistent but I don’t think they have been. Maybe they will from now on. He’s a low profile player playing for a struggling non top 6 club so he was a good (safe) one for the FA to make a point with.

Richarlison and B. Silva were investigated but they weren't charged.

Very few will come out and say their own player dives, especially with the potential of a ban for that player now. Their player's "dive" is your player's "there was contact"- they could be the same incident. Let's see if Hodgson is so bold if Zaha or Benteke is pulled up for simulation in the near future.

Managers want these rules implemented until it's their team that is affected.
