He’s now the kit man at Notts County apparently!

Clearly not the sharpest tool in the box, but, as long as he’s happy!

Ah Mark draper.

I'd like to play one of the top Italian sides Inter Milan or Barcelona.lol

lol I'd forgotten that.

Interesting comment from John Gregory at the end..."Mark Draper will play for England....if he wants to"

Makes you wonder about his application and whether or not he really took his career that seriously. Undoubtedly had the talent for me...

Is anybody going to mention Robbie Sav?

One of the best players to ever play for the club - his words, not mine.

Joking aside, people have mentioned Izzet and Lennon commenting how Lennon controlled things and Izzet was the creative spark, but it was a midfield three and without Savage running around like a nutter winning the ball back and giving it to the others they wouldn't have had the ball to be as good as they were. Granted he's no Kante and I doubt he'd make any top 5, but was an important player during that era.

Hear, hear.

I think it's only since Savage left us and some of the things he's said that people now knock him. When he was here giving it 100% each week he was very effective and played a key part in that team.

Kante

Izzett

Drinkwater

Lennon

Danny Tiatto :)

Imagine having Izzett and Kante in this current side.

Kante

Cambiasso

Macalister

Lennon

Izzett

A very high standard, Drinky, Iborra, Ndidi, Draper, Zagorakis and Parker all contenders too. I remember in my second season Gerry Daly bossing games in a promotion side but it's hard to compare era to era at different levels but he certainly stood out too.

For me, the thread is about ' which CM's have played the best for City', rather than 'which CM's have been the best players'.

This rules Cambiclasso out.

My list:

Kante

Lennon

Thompson

Parker

Izzett (Not strictly a CM?)

Lets not overhype him, we won a league cup and finished in the top 10 our first season up without him, having a fat Gary Parker who could hardly run next to Izzet and Lennon.

Not overhyping him at all otherwise he’d be in my list. Just acknowledging his effort and work rate. As Face said, Savage did the dirty work that allowed Izzet to do his stuff. The fact opposition fans hated Savage when he was here is a back handed compliment that they wished they had someone like him in their team.

I think you are overhyping, or at least taking something away from the other two by saying his dirty work allowed the other two to do their stuff.

He contributed, of course. But those two were performing at a good level long before Savage set foot in the team. They were quality whether Savage, Parker or Taylor were playing the middle with them.

Izzett

Kante.

but i think seeing he is only 20 N'didi could go down as one of our best central midfielders in time.

I'm torn, I wanted to write those names down. I loved Parker and Thomson, they were brilliant for us but can I really say they were better than someone like DD? We walked two league with him playing a key role.

In terms of being the best all round players and playing at the highest level it has to be Kante, Lennon, Izzet, DD... the 5th could be anyone from half a dozen players.

I terms of who I loved watching then your list with Cambiasso is probably not far wrong.
