If I remember correctly there was an article regarding Musa’s wages. He’s on a very good wage with us & is happy to sit around earning his money as he knows he isn’t really gonna make the money he is right now elsewhere.

Bugger!!!

How does the visa system work? If he is not doing his job, then perhaps we could say sorry but bye

Good point although I'd guess the visa at least covers the length of the contract but have no idea how it works tbh. It could be that it has to be renewed annually?

That said, I can't remember a case where a player has been forced to move because his visa expired. Could be wrong.

It would be for the same length of time as the contract but with the provision that if they terminate, the visa expires quickly afterwards. A loan would still be counted as employed by City, so if he went to another British club, he wouldn’t need a visa (or work permit, which is essentially what it is)

Genuinely believe Musa would have been more of a chance had he been on lower wages. Clearly seen as a Vardy replacement, and when that didn't come to fruition I bet the club have looked at it and thought we need to move him on as he's an expensive plan b

I don't think that at all, his main problem is he's a technically awful footballer. I just can't believe his touch and weight of pass can be so bad for an offensive player at this level and that's nothing to do with expectations and confidence, it's just poor technique.

I wonder how many times we scouted him seeing as we were after him for nearly two years? I can't believe it wasn't a huge red flag and overlooked because he had a good burst of pace. It's not his fault but he's just a dreadful footballer. He'll never do anything here and the club should be looking at financial limitation damage by either selling him cut price or getting him out on loan in the hope some other mugs buy him.

He’s turning up for training every week though so technically he’s still doing his job.

How disgraceful.

Im assuming he means that if he isn’t playing the required percentage of games needed to qualify for a visa, will he be staying. He just said it more harshly. Nothing disgraceful with that. The reality is we are stuck with paying huge wages for someone who is way down the pecking order

Is it? If you are on a visa then I thought you must have to be doing the job that got you the visa in the first place. With his off field indiscrections and the fact that no manager seems to pick him, I wondered if he was still entitled to a visa. Seems a valid question to me and would apply to a lot of other occupations I would of thought

Look I don't rate Musa at all and think that Moscow properly fcked us on this one. If we get 5-7 millions for him I'd drive him myself to the nut jobs who'd want him. In fact I'd give him for free.

That said a contract is a contract and as someone already pointed, as long as the guy's showing up to the training, he's fulfilling his part. There is nothing he can do about being shit.

No one put us a gun on the head to sign him.

Yeah, should've sacked him after someone from a rag reported what turned out to be unsubstantiated rumours.

Whoooosh

Oh come off it. Players break contracts all the time.

Besides, no one was suggesting anything illegal... just looking for a way out of it.

"Ahmed Musa is going back to CSKA in Russia, that is good news, because they like him there very much and he will get to play more,” Rohr said.

There are a few Nigerian news outlets running with this direct quote. There's not a lot of ambiguity in that statement by the Nigeria manager so I hope it's true.

I honestly believe that the person or people who sanctioned the Musa move to Leicester, should be sacked.

Who, on earth, scouted him properly and came to the conclusion that he could be a. A good player in the Premier League and b. Worth 16/17 million and 60 k per week.

60 k per week for Musa. It's criminal.

Half the posters on here were raving about him from a couple of YouTube videos when we signed him! and were also moaning that we weren’t willing to raise our offer to £22m to get it done quicker!

Shows what player knowledge some people on here actually have.

It looked to me like bad business straight away, but hey, what do I know.

People are all too quick to waste silly money on some of these overseas players. Lots of them are unsuitable for the intensity of the Premier League.

I can’t blame people on here. Firstly, there are some numpties, secondly any of us only have so much info. Watching YouTube to build an assessment of a player is frankly ludicrous.

But being paid as a professional scout is something completely different. Your job is to identify signings and of course they’ll sometimes get them wrong.

But this one looks to be spectacularly so.

Even though Musa has turned out to be awful, I think that's a bit of an overreaction. He's even faster than Vardy and had a decent finishing record from the wing and up front for CSKA and Nigeria. He'd even scored against Argentina at the World Cup. You could understand the logic behind why he had been scouted and signed. You could say the Russian and Ukraine leagues aren't good, but Willian and Fernandinho came from that region of the world and have done well in the English game.

Definitely overpriced, definitely not good enough but knowing how a player will adapt to a new league is always a big unknown. In this case it didn't work out, but our scouting team probably felt very confident. We'd just won the title and their record of Mahrez, Vardy, Kante, Huth, Albrighton, etc probably made them feel like they could do no wrong. When he scored twice against Barcelona pre-season a lot of us thought the scouting team had done it again!
