Grow up and get behind Riyad, or: stop listening to the press and wait and see how he reacts on the pitch

I bet he won't...

Refusing to work under contract though, as a result of this they could.....the mere threat of this would bring him back to work, but he'd sulk and just turn up.

Like I said highly highly unlikely but could happen.

I've got some grievances about a proposed initiative that I'd been promised would be considered being turned down due to a lack of available funds. Should I decline to come in on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of next week with a mysterious illness?

Mahrez will be dealt with

Leicester v Swansea, Sat (15:00 GMT)

Leicester City

Leicester manager Claude Puel has been addressing the media after Riyad Mahrez missed training for a fourth day.

The Foxes turned down a bid from Premier League leaders Manchester City on transfer deadline day.

Puel said: "The club took the decision for the best interest of Leicester, we needed to respect this decision. It is the best decision for our squad.

"The position with Riyad, we will assess. After the transfer window, it is a tough decision for us to mange now. It is important now to move on and to keep our focus on the pitch. I hope Riyad can clear his head and come back with us as he is a valuable player for us and crucial in our play.

"We need to stay united after all this, it is a situation we need to manage but other things will stay inside the club. We will deal with his side and the club, not in public."

Genuinely think we wont see him in a Leicester shirt again.

14 games left this season and he 100% isnt involved tomorrow.....just cant see it.

Dear Riyad

I don't mean to be crude.

You're a very slick player and I can understand you wanting to join Man City.

But you're starting to look like a bit of a dipstick.

And you're now fueling discontent within the squad.

But I hope they offer you an olive branch.

Because you're essential to our plans for the season.

But your behaviour is virgin on treason.

You're behaving like a baby.

You can engineer your big move in the summer.

I'm sure Man City's money will spill out then.

We might have already struck a deal.

So grow up and behave more refined.

mate  this time it's totally different

something big happen between mahrez znd the owners  in the next few  days

the owners were not selling ( puel said so )

hope realky its over as Leicester need to fight for the Europa league

if the owners are clever enough they should revisit mahrez contract and put in a release clause 70/80 m   otherwise we r sure of a real disturbance within the club but not sure about disturbance in mahrez s career as he got Kia as his agent

this time is really different

Having Kia in his corner wasn't great for this window!

The thing Leicester has that outsiders, like you seem to forget is that their are funds available to try to replace Mahrez (though, that is not easy).

You do not achieve what you want by pushing a billionaire into a corner. Mahrez stands to lose a lot more than City.

I don't think the supporters of Leicester City FC have any such notions at the moment. Mahrez has insulted us and his teammates when we have done nothing to deserve that. He can have issues with the ownership or administration but refusing to practice and play deeply offends the supporters who ultimately help pay his salary.

Ulloa went on Tele and said he'd never play for us again and didn't get the abuse our best ever player does. Mad mate

Wrong. Ulloa did get abuse, but nobody was being an idiot and defending him, so there were no arguments.

You notice the backlash Mahrez gets because people get fed up of others defending the indefensible, just because he's a talented player.

there is no coming back from here i fear!

play good and the club will drive your price up, play bad and the other clubs won't be interested. what a situation to be in lol
should just have some minor surgery (like what kyrie irving threatened to do if the reports were true) and sit out the rest of the season lol (if he is still not wanting to play with the team and if he has an ounce of a brain)

Well this was a slightly embarrassing outburst.

I think most people remember how he's 'reacted on the pitch' after transfer windows. He's been lazy and has played for himself. I think people also remember how he starts to play when a transfer window approaches, or when the match is particularly high profile (remember the startling contrasts between his Champions League and league performances last season, or are we burying our heads in the sand again?)

But forget that - he has REFUSED TO PLAY OR TRAIN. What, about that, makes you think it's ok to defend him? And don't get me started on that statement his 'friend' released; claiming hes's the victim because he doesn't value a contract and we do, actually saying he's DEPRESSED.

There's 2 things I've always found strange in regards to Riyad Mahrez:

1) That people seem incapable of accepting that he is inconsistent. For every moment of brilliance there is a match where he has been a total hindrance - the title winning season aside.

2) That people seem incapable of accepting that he is a total primadonna with an attitude problem.

These 2 things are often related - when he's mardy he will refuse to tackle, track back, and worst of all, even pass the ball to teammates - preferring to try the impossible and take on 3 players because he thinks it makes him look good - when in actual fact it makes him look stupid. Anyone who watches him play can testify to this, if they can put bias aside for one moment and be honest.

People seemed to be able to do it with Drinkwater. Drinkwater was exceptional half the time, as good as any player in his role out there, but people could be honest and accept that he was a Jekyll and Hyde character.

But my theory is people are so charmed by the admittedly special silky skills that they will abandon all reason. He has become too much of a hero to some, too much of an idol for a club of our size, and all objectivity has gone out the window.

I think there are some people here who are no better than some of the Algerians who troll on facebook. You're supposed to be a fan of Leicester City FC, not Riyad Mahrez. And some of the defending he gets for inexcusable actions is, in itself, inexcusable.

Fair post that Kitch.

My theory is that people abandon all reason because when he's on his game, he's irreplaceable. I agree he's a hero and an idol to many and the reason for that is he's a match winner and a game changer the likes of which we haven't seen for years.

If he was any other player he'd be getting dogs abuse, but he's not. He's Mahrez and people are blinded by his brilliance. For every mardy, lazy game he has he'll have another which involves a moment of brilliance, an assist or a goal. I don't think there's any denying we're a worse team without him.

We should all be fans of LCFC first but Mahrez is getting special treatment because he's a special talent and a 'one off'. I hope he sorts his head out but I fear he's burnt his bridges good and proper now.

He's gone at the end of the season. Dressing room must be pissed off, he doesn't give a shit about anything and just wants out. There is just no way we'll keep him. It's over.
