Grow up and get behind Riyad, or: stop listening to the press and wait and see how he reacts on the pitch

Just spoke to somebody at the club. He didn't turn up for training today and nobody knows where he is. He is a silly lad, the club are not going to be blackmailed by him. He risks ending his career at 26

If true, I hope Vic gives up his 500k weekly wine-shop for the next 180 weeks (that's £90m btw) and we make mahrez sweep the concourse floors for the next 2 years until his contract runs out.

clearly talented with his feet but apparently lacking either a brain in his head or the ability to ignore bad advice from his 'advisors'.

People forget that when Mahrez first arrived at this club, he was no where near as good as he is now, he developed by good coaching and playing along side the good team mates the club invested in. The club made him into the player he is now and he has a PL winners medal in his locker to boot.

I applaud the clubs stance against an appalling attempt to force a below price move on the last day of the window, however I am concerned about the implications, as someone said earlier we are going to have to get used to playing without him, we may have well started now. I think we should have done the deal and got the bad apple out of the club

Mahrez ain’t the first player to act like this when he didn’t get the move. Countinho was the same, reports of being depressed etc. Didn’t play a game during August either.

Both have the the same agent I think...

Oh god I wish Pearson was still about. He's still a King Power employee can't we fly him over and send him round to Mahrez's house?

Send Wasyl around, too.

Jesus Christ, the state of this thread. We love him, he's been the best thing possibly to ever happen to us as a club. He wants to move on, we need to do the same. I love what he has done for us, but honestly, I love the club more. This whole thing is just media and agent driven surely, we have no idea what is really going on, roll on tomorrow, with or without him.

People wont boo because they realise a firing Mahrez is important to us being successful and pushing for the Europa League spot.

The fact he benefits the team doesnt change the fact that he is a cock womble.

people 100% will boo. he got audibly booed at the start of this season for handing in a transfer request. read this thread man, booing will be him getting off lightly, there's quite a lot of our fans who actually want to kill our best ever player.

Particularly when the drug squad come after him - a failure to report where you are can see a ban

a fair point. But also consider that players may not wish to join us now if they feel they are going to be held to ransom if a better club comes in for them

Also a fair point, but I try to look for positives in what is an unfortunate situation. I still blame Neil Warnock and Cardif for all of this!

He's really idiots Mahrez, he's crying just why?
He extended his contract, at which time his agent would have negotiated a release clause.
When I see the departure of some for crazy amount, leaders have good reason not to be scammed by city.

Well he is not playing tomorrow , probably would not play in the cup even before his hissy fit anyway.

Next game is Man City so that sounds risky .

So not sure when we will see him again in a Leicester shirt.

Been on a few other forums to gauge the reaction and surprisingly a lot are just as disgusted

as we are with his antics.

He's probably embarrassed and not sure what to do/say after this debacle.

wymes is talking sense here. how could he have the face to show up in front of the players, owners and fans.

i know i always come off as a fan boy but i just wish, i wish that someone goes to his house and just talk to him.

he conducted himself in a bad way but  the man need to talk to someone at the club.

the club, players, fans and him went through to much for it to end like this.

hopefully someone at the club can find it in himself to be the bigger man and dig him out of his hideout

Good.

The bloke literally is thick as pig shit.

All you have to do is keep playing your best, and the club will accept a bid they feel is suitable.

Transfer requests, missing training, the ridiculous depression statements, the toys out the pram performances weve seen before.

Its that simple. He has to do one thing, which is play good football. And everything else goes with it.

Him, being a penis thinks that a tantrum is the way to get the move, and not just playing football.

Everyone talks about the Coutinho fee, maybe he should take a leaf out of his book on how to conduct himself in light of transfer bids.

I lost it when you said he was "being a penis"

It's so juvenile but I laughed out loud. It's like calling someone a "butthole" when you're an adult. Can't help but snicker.

Finnegan has made himself look a proper chump with this thread. Sorry mate, but you really have. :yesyes:

No, he really hasn't. He started a really good talking point when things looked a lot different.

Well this was a slightly embarrassing outburst.

I think most people remember how he's 'reacted on the pitch' after transfer windows. He's been lazy and has played for himself. I think people also remember how he starts to play when a transfer window approaches, or when the match is particularly high profile (remember the startling contrasts between his Champions League and league performances last season, or are we burying our heads in the sand again?)

But forget that - he has REFUSED TO PLAY OR TRAIN. What, about that, makes you think it's ok to defend him? And don't get me started on that statement his 'friend' released; claiming hes's the victim because he doesn't value a contract and we do, actually saying he's DEPRESSED.

There's 2 things I've always found strange in regards to Riyad Mahrez:

1) That people seem incapable of accepting that he is inconsistent. For every moment of brilliance there is a match where he has been a total hindrance - the title winning season aside.

2) That people seem incapable of accepting that he is a total primadonna with an attitude problem.

These 2 things are often related - when he's mardy he will refuse to tackle, track back, and worst of all, even pass the ball to teammates - preferring to try the impossible and take on 3 players because he thinks it makes him look good - when in actual fact it makes him look stupid. Anyone who watches him play can testify to this, if they can put bias aside for one moment and be honest.

People seemed to be able to do it with Drinkwater. Drinkwater was exceptional half the time, as good as any player in his role out there, but people could be honest and accept that he was a Jekyll and Hyde character.

But my theory is people are so charmed by the admittedly special silky skills that they will abandon all reason. He has become too much of a hero to some, too much of an idol for a club of our size, and all objectivity has gone out the window.

I think there are some people here who are no better than some of the Algerians who troll on facebook. You're supposed to be a fan of Leicester City FC, not Riyad Mahrez. And some of the defending he gets for inexcusable actions is, in itself, inexcusable.

Would have agreed with you until this season, the man has been exceptional and even better than the year we won the league. In 15/16 he had spells of games he barely had a kick but under Puel he's been dynamite and has moved up a level. When he gets his move, he'll go on to be one of the best in Europe.

I find it a bit funny that your post is about Man City being at fault, and then you list all the reasons why its Mahrez' fault and not Man City's

Mahrez put in the transfer request at the hint of an approach from an City

Mahrez wasnt professional enough to get on with his job

He was withdrawn from the squad for Everton at the clubs detriment

Hes still kicking off now like a moron (rather than being happy for the rest of the season on his rather lucrative contract).

There wouldnt be a "circus" if the player wasnt a complete penis. Is that Man City's fault?

What don't you understand? If Man city didn't make a deadline day aproach for Mahrez then he would have played happily with us until the summer. I'm not sure what is so hard for you to understand about that. Of course most of the blame lies with Mahrez but this whole circus would never have taken place had city not made a late approach for him.

I was listening to TalkSport this morning and in one of the many bulletin's about them reporting Mahrez hadn't turned up for training and no-one knew where he was they reported the FA could be after him to investigate a drugs test.

They only mentioned it once and didn't say anymore.

I know/doubt anything would come of it, i'm sure he's clean but you couldn't blame the FA for perhaps investigating and finding it arguably suspicious.

For the record i'm not for 1 second claiming of anything untoward but as Cardiff Fox has said it's failure to report where you are.
