A former Leicester City youngster has taken a modern-day approach to find a new football club, by advertising his availability on LinkedIn. Ethan Holby was recently released by the Foxes but hasn’t given up his dream of pursuing a career in professional football. The 19-year-old midfielder decided to enhance his search for a new side by posting on the social media site, specifically designed for business connections, to ask if there were any opportunities. ‘I’ve just turned 19 and I’m currently searching for a club,’ he wrote.  ‘I recently left Leicester City F.C. after playing there for 10 years. ‘Can play anywhere in midfield, two footed so can play either wing.

‘I’ve got that never give up attitude which is why I’m still on the search and quitting will never cross my mind. Hodby is searching for a new club ‘If anyone knows about any trials popping up or clubs that are releasing players and are in need of new, please let me know.’ Incredibly, Hodby has received more than 600 likes and 250 comments on his post, with various people suggesting trial opportunities or flagging up clubs’ officials to take a look. Time will tell if he finds a new club, but he certainly deserves credit for thinking outside the box!

Seriously, he's two-footed and knows how to use all the networking tools at his disposal. Somebody's got to give the lad a trial.

Can't hurt. Look at Roy Essandoh - answered an ad on Teletext and wrote his name in FA Cup history.

I wonder if he's had a word with Mr Vardy about his academy?

Kinda reminds me of Wycombe Wanderers hiring Roy Essandoh over Ceefax back in the day.  Think he came on as a substitute in the FA Cup, but don't remember what happened next.

I use LinkedIn everyday for work and I come across quite a few footballers on there - this isn't uncommon nowadays really, a lot advertise their availability on there when they get released. It's sort of what the site is for really. He got quite a good response when I had a look earlier, I think he got invited to a trial day for Solihull Moors so fingers crossed that will be a route back in for him!

For a moment I thought this was just the latest chapter in the sorry "Mahrez wants to go to Man City" saga and that Riyad's agent had resorted to LinkedIn to get the move!

Btw... who is mahrezs agent? Is it someone new?
