Forgive my outrageous analogy, but I was thinking that this last 8 game sequence is like The Beatles Abbey Road album.

Since their peak in 1966 / 1967 they'd had all kinds of trials and tribulations, and they knew, in the Spring of 1969, that the group that shook the world were about to break up. But they sat down and said 'OK - let's end on a high' - and despite knowing, or maybe because they knew it was their last record, they produced a masterpiece.

Could be very interesting at Wembley in May.

Great posts.  However ... I trust these will not literally be The Last Games of Riyad Mahrez.

I'm pretty sure that from his standpoint, they are the last games until he bursts free from the chrysalis his perfected, butterfly self has been trapped in for the better part of two years.   Just like John Lennon was long past ready to exercise a degree of personal freedom and artistic license he never had with the Beatles.

We know how it worked out for Lennon without McCartney.  John didn't realize how good he had it, and how perfect that fit and that moment were.  But I assume Riyad's footballing star will not end up hitched to a team of Yoko Onos.

I've stated he is not a foundation piece.  But as one great piece in a side with a fine midfield and multiple attacking options  ... given his personality, his best route to being the greatest star he can be, might be not being the greatest star on his team.  In which case he could even become a superstar ... if that makes sense.

Like you, I believe we are condemned to find out.  And like you, I am not going to miss a minute of "The Last 8 Games".

The goal against Man City will always be my preferred one. It was an extraordinary (and a bit lucky) piece of skill and I knew by then that we had a real chance to win the league.

He's an absolute magician on his day and I genuinely can't understand anyone who resents him. First PFA ever for LCFC.

he might sulk or be depressed, every time he was on the pitch , he gave his all, even if sometimes it didn't seem good enough.

Really? You really think Lennon's solo stuff is better than the Beatles stuff? Seriously?

There's not one Lennon solo song that would get on a Beatles compilation. Not even close.

Not really a big Beatles fan. Frank Sinatra is my favourite (talking about the old guys). Bobby Caldwell is also good.

His very first goal for us, against Blackpool in the Championship.

THAT goal against Chelsea at home.

The recent free-kick, the late equalizer against Bournemouth.

His first and so far only hat-trick, in December 2015 against Swansea.

[Leaving the Beatles chat aside, as it's a whole other thread]

Yes, there are the marquee moments, the ones which will be on most people's Mahrez showreel, and plenty from this season, but I love seeing those little moments of supernatural control that make you go "woah" out loud.

Last night, he did a bit of close control in Chelsea's box to get round a defender, which the BBC actually noticed and replayed. A drag back and deft touch forward.  The defender was completely sold.

Most games he'll trap a long aerial pass to him like he has a sticky boot.

The video above of him putting the Villa players on their backsides is one such "woah" moment, but there are usually one or two such moments every time he plays.

Whatever skills Gray or Diabate have (and they seem to have plenty) they will, I'm afraid, never live up to Mahrez when he's gone.

A true club legend to be savoured in his few remaining games.

Imagine was voted best song ever written by a Brit.

personally I like the early  Beatles work over post sergeant pepper, but Imagine is lennons pinacle imo

I don't care about the last 8 games. All I know is he was absolutely woeful last night to the point I honestly wondered if he'd been paid off. So many wayward passes and he lost the ball for their first goal attack.

He can't cope under pressure at all. He'll struggle at a bigger club I feel.

I think at LCFC he feels a weight of pressure to produce a worldy shot or pass as he's our creative fulcrum. This inclines him to be overly ambitious at times and lose possession. At a bigger club with other creative options he could perhaps mix it up a bit more, with the spattering of genius remaining.

Can we blame him for feeling results rest on his and Vardys shoulders alone?

So are we going to significantly lower our valuation of mahrez given he'll be a few months closer to his contract expiration?

Will any of his preferred clubs meet our valuation?

Will we feel we've enslaved him enough and just be grateful for what he's done for us and grant him his freedom on the cheap?

Fans like you dont deserve a player like Mahrez.
