Made a career out of finding Vardy, Mahrez and Kantè. Everyone knows the mess we made of the transfer window after we won the league and things haven't been much better at Everton. Macia and Rudkin on the whole have done a good job, singing N'Didi (even though he may have been under the radar with Walsh), Iborra, Maguire and even Silva doesn't look a half bad player.

You can’t really equate Kante, mahrez and vardy with the SCP captain who plays for Portugal, the Sevilla captain with three uefa cups and a premier league centre half who was already on the fringe of an England call up.

diabate is a far better comparison - but he was nothing to do with our current scouting network and the jury remains out on him anyway.

The OP is old news but I am under the impression that Walsh has already been told his fate - he still lives in the county ....

Not really comparable though. Players like Vardy, Mahrez and Kante were not known where as Silva, for example, isn't exactly a find considering he was very well known and already won multiple titles including the European Championships with his Country. We looked at Maguire when he was at Sheffield United - whether it was through Walsh or Pearson - but, rightly, had doubts about his pace.

Walsh worked at Chelsea and found players like Drogba. So I'd suggest he didn't just make his career out of three Leicester City players. And remember he found us all those players that were not known but solid in a good period for us, such as Knockaert.

If he wanted to come back here as a scout there's no doubt I'd take him.

The season before Chelsea signed him he scored 11 goals in Europe including five in the champions league, I'm confident I could have found him myself.

That's my point. Chelsea signed Zola when he was there too but he was known.

Iborra, Silva and Maguire are not "finds" and not comparable to Mahrez, Vardy or Kante.

I sometimes wonder if during that title winning season the sum of the parts was greater than the parts themselves ...   and some of those parts weren't that great ...

I think  this sums it up best,  whilst they we’re here Pearson, Walsh and Shaky were brilliant some would say the dream team  but they have done nothing of note individual since leaving

Walsh is the only one really that's been at another club long term though.

Could say players like Slimani, Mendy, Musa Kapustka were already known.

That doesn’t really come in to it , Pearson was at Derby and the results were not that good before getting sacked and he isn’t doing brilliant overseas . Shaky wasn’t a success as manager and last I looked Everton are not doing brilliantly and the Everton fans are calling Walsh blind and is due to leave so I would still say none have done much by themselves

Agree. But like I’ve always said, identifying players and actually buying them are two different things. We’ll never know, of course.

Pearson liked us to be organised at the back and to play hoof ball. (I expect other views are available but thats mine)

When he had tried all elese and we were dooned the team foud resukts by counter attacking.... i am not sure who it camefrom but it was never a np option)

I wonder if any of them would ever play counter attacking football again

That's a bit harsh. Some of the signings were Ranieri signing and  he chose not to take the Advice of Walsh on their suitability.

'Found' might be stretching it a bit. He was doing well in a very good Monaco team and they paid a tidy sum for him. He did recommend that they sign him though...

I've already explained what I meant.

Sometimes you just stumble across something and it works and when you try to replicate it doesn’t work as well
