lets not beat around the bush, we know what Toure actually means

I don't so tell me what you think.

To be honest, I took him at his word but find it difficult to believe it as stated.

Sorry, what about Black African players? That Pep has a problem with them? Because that's what Toure said but you've referred to what he "actually means". I wondered what you thought that was.

I was referring to the fact he said signing Mahrez would help Pep's cause, which it clearly doesn't as it doesn't fill the black and African quota.

Take a day off from your self perceived moral high ground have you seen the bile on other fans forums.its what's involved as being a fan passion love bitterness joy hatred sorrow.its why we love football we are no different to other fans.

I don't give a rat's ass about the other forums.

Taking a dump on a player who was essential to the most glorious period of the club, just because he wants to leave and try his luck at a higher level, isn't being a fan, that's being dumb.

Being outraged about the two games he missed but forget the 25 or so where he was essential, isn't being a fan, that's being fickle.

I'll always try to back our players and wish the leaving ones well. I won't let myself get caught by the bitterness and react like a possessive mother.

And if that means I'm not a fan, then I'm pretty proud of not being one.

Signed for £400k

Sold for £60m-£75m

Won us a title

Stayed for two years after

No one has more assists and goals in the PL than him over the last three years

He's helped evolve us from being just another club in the Championship to being worldwide famous and one of the best clubs in England outside the elite top six.

If that doesn't qualify him for legend status then Leicester City have no legends in our history. I can easily forgive him for throwing his toys out the pram when he didn't get his Man City move in January, he's given everything to our club. There are people who would call Kante a legend but he jumped ship at the first opportunity when our future could have been so different if we'd kept him and bought well that summer. Mahrez stayed and only left when our attempt to springboard ourselves into elite level failed. You're judging him on his one negative and ignoring his umpteen positives.

Read the thread properly.!

Your post said "legends don't refuse to play for you" which insinuates he's not a legend.

Agree in parts.

Top footballer (when he wants to be) who has given us all some great moments on the pitch, but to claim he's "given everything to our club" is overstating it. Yes, his numbers appear impressive from the outside, but when you look and see what happened in the past two years/two seasons or so with two transfer requests handed in, him refusing to play for the club and for a team that made him so successful, plus him going missing for an essential part this past season, a season where we could've gone all the way to 7th (or even 6th, with Arsenal crouching over the finishing line), he leaves with my best wishes, but I'm not going to shed a tear when he's gone.

There was a time without him and there will be a time without him.

As for Kanté, he had the release clause in his contract and blame whomever inserted it or for it to happen or why we couldn't convince him to stay.

Can't blame the guy, in the end, he's made the right choice (for himself).

IMO a legend goes above and beyond the duty of a normal footballer.

Kante left because he could, I don't blame him for leaving but a legend stays even when possible bigger and better opportunities come along. Heskey turned down a number of offers before Liverpool came in with a deal that was great for the club and Heskey. Izzett stayed after relegation and played out his contract only leaving when the club clearly couldn't afford to keep him. That is why they are legends in a way that say Lennon and Savage aren't.

Mahrez did stay when he could have left and signed a nice new contract with no release clause and if he hadn't gone on strike, as understandable as it was, he would be leaving a legend no doubt, but a legend doesn't go on strike and a legend doesn't leave at the first opportunity for a club that finished 10 places below us.

Legend is reserved for those that have put the club ahead of their own needs, not just been a great footballer on the pitch.

Imho, the 'legend' debate is pointless. Whether someone is a legend or a bellend is a matter of opinion. There is no official status but do please feel free to continue sharing opinions. It is only page 82 after all!

A rose, you never used your thorns
The ones you loved abandoned you
Your angel face made hearts so warm
You helped the sick but who helped you ?
Then rushing through the Paris night
They hounded you, you lost control

We prayed that you would be alright
The news came through - Your body cold...

[Chorus: David Brent]
Good night, my sweet princess...
Sleep tight, my sweet princess...

Marky doesn't think Weller is a legend because he also refused to play.

That occurred to me too .......

riyad is a legend here - that’s my opinion

the rest of you can think what you want

that’s your prerogative and it won’t change my opinion - we do get a bit precious at times ......

Sorry but this is nonsense.

In 30 years time when you're having a conversation about LCFC legends there is no way on earth that Mahrez won't figure very highly in that conversation.

It's not nonsense it's my opinion. When we are talking about the most talented footballers to play for Leicester he will be right up there, but, in my opinion, a legend does more than just play good football. They put the club first. They don't go on strike. You have to do a lot to be legend. Mahrez is still one of my favourite players and I understand the reasons behind his actions... but a legend does  not go on strike and derail what could have been a very successful season.

You probably think Andy King is a legend by that criteria. lol

Time will tell on whether Mahrez will be a universally accepted Leicester legend or not.

For me, his transfer saga and behaviour has been pretty symbolic of the state of modern football at the moment, which is difficult to look past.

Oh well, we're living through the era of our greatest ever legend and we can't have everything. All hail king Vardz.
