Christian Fuchs Off Next Summer

Recommended Posts

Posted

the club owe him about 2.5 million for the period june 18 to june 19.

he wont agree to a move unless it is to a new York based team.

if the club decide they can do without him next season then they could offer him a pay off to terminate his contract early - say £1m.

not sure why he would have to go public on this

EDIT: I see hank has beaten me to it

Yeah it’s more understandable for older players, but for people like Rodwell his confinedence is shot to bits who would leave a 70k a week contract to earn 10-15k a week if he was lucky.

I don’t know mate. As I said, I was brought up to work-earn, work-relax etc..

Even at Rodwell’s age, I’m sure I’d rather sign for say a Wigan or a Blackburn, earning 20k per week and actually resurrecting my career.

I assume Rodwell is a multi millionaire anyway.

Whatever the incentives etc, it’s a strange situation to be in, no doubt.

Not sure any one wouldve been paying him 40k

now that his in league 1 his wages are reduced by 50%

35k for one more year

actually they arent

rodwell will still be on 70k per week. he had no relegation clauses

he was offered a move to the MLS in jan but was on less money so he refused.

Then it’s bizarre that literally, money is the fellas only concern.

I’m not on about helping out Sunderland...they have been run utterly terribly for years. But for the player himself...just accepting that his current career is over when it doesn’t have to be.

Oh well, takes all sorts.

Oh, I thought it meant 2018

Fook sake... ANOTHER year!

From what he has said previously in interviews I always assumed this would be his final season hence why Chilwell was pushed through into the first team but according to that article he's staying until 2019.

Although I think he's better than Chilwell I do think another season pushing it. Fuchs is slowly declining and chilwells not improving.

Why are people getting so irate about players on high wages and not playing. The PL is based on 25 man squads that means by definition 14 players at least are not going to be completing a full set of games and that a fair proportion of them wont play much at all.

Fans complain about team rotations and chopping and changing and then moan when a player gets paid and doesn't play.

Whether Fuch's plays or not he's part of the 25 man squad and is vital in terms of cover. What he does in his spare time is up to him as I doubt very much that he's missing any of the training or club activities.

He comes across as a philanthropic guy who's using some of his wages to sponsor young guys onto a football career path.

How anyone can be critical of him even when not allowing for his massive contribution to our PL league win is beyond my understanding.

I suspect that the recent results and the now dislike bordering on hatred for Puel has clouded people's thoughts and perspective.

But then this is Foxestalk.

Rodwell’s situation is completely different? I don’t begrudge Fuchs at all. A consummate pro who has played well into his thirties. And who would give his all if called upon now.

I blame the club though for giving him too long a contract. He’s over the hill football wise and needs moving on. Like Morgan and others.

I didn't think he played for us, there's plenty of unfounded criticism of Fuchs.

Every club needs a Fuchs.

I’m a huge fan and a big admirer of him. He’s different to most footballers as he’s actually got half a brain and is a smart and funny bloke.

He’s right up there as one of my favourite ever players and I wish him well in whatever he decides to do.

What a great bit of business he’s proved to be. I also think he played a big part in our PL win behind the scenes. A real leader and popular with his team mates.

I’ll really miss him :(

Been a great signing for us, shame to see him go but the writing has been on the wall ever since Claude was appointed.

He'll leave at the end of the season IMO.

I don't begrudge him one more season with us, and he is more than capable of playing back-up and coming on and doing a job when needed.

My only concern is, whether Chilwell is good enough to be starting for us if we want to be challenging top 6 next season.

I really wouldn't mind us going out and signing a top £20-25million rated LB to come straight in and that would push Fuchs to 3rd choice. Maybe a season long loan deal if that does happen.

Hopefully Chilwell would have learned a lot this year and make a big step up for next season, but I still have some doubts!

Nice guy but I thought and kinda hoped he would be off this Summer. I cant see him playing much anymore, other than cup runouts.

Hopefully we'll get new full backs still.

Yeah maybe he is working his Bollux, but considering we haven’t won a Home game since January it doesn’t look very professional jumping in canals 3 days before a game.

And do you know for a fact that he isn’t just picking up the money and taking the piss?

He lives in London and comes up every day by train and is met at the station along with a few others and taken by car to training and are dropped back afterwards so he has the afternoons to fill somehow

clearly when he has an extended break from training he flies off to New York for a few days

I am surprised he hasn’t asked the club if they would sell him to a New York MLS club expecially if we do buy a new LB in the summer as he would be surplus and I would hate for him to go without us all being able to say goodbye at his last game

i know now if my family were the other side of the world I would want to be with them

No, I don’t know that for a fact.

Just a hunch based on gut feel but I tend to believe he’s not the type to swing the lead.

Either way, I still think he’s adequate back up for Chilwell and would always give 100% when called upon.

Personally I would have him starting over Chilwell as I think he’s better defensively and possibly have Chilwell in front of him further up.

I also don’t blame the club at all. The club’s internal infrastructure was in no way, shape, or form prepared for the success and attention from the 2015-16 season. Fuchs stepped up and did as much off the pitch as he did on it for the club. I doubt anyone at the club thought he’d be our starting LB at the end of this contract extension but he deserved some kind of reward for doing so much extra work for the club.

-Fuchs and his wife brought boxes of LCFC shirts to stores in NYC that were desperate to meet the demand for the club’s merch. They went out themselves and scouted stores outside of the UK to carry LCFC merch.

-He did public appearance after public appearance (even dressing up in costume for a kids’ Halloween party the club held) and an incredible number of media appearances, always representing the club well. There are a few guys on the team, while great, are total prima donnas when it comes to that stuff

-He got the damn NFL interested in the club and running promotional spots

-And he was our starting left back when we won the league. ?

-On top of that he’s an experienced pro who has a lot to offer younger players

-And he’s steered clear of any controversy, which is more than we can say about a lot of players! Haha

Fair play to the bloke for saying that as well. Will always be a Leicester legend in my eyes, a true personality of football and as good a leader as he is a player. Will be missed immensely and welcomed back with opened arms anytime for me.
