'i hope you never require help from people'. Odd spiteful comment.

Does Baz not realise it might have been a decision that Jim didn't personally make and probably came from above him?

(I presume the club don't want it to clash with raising funds for Foxes Foundation through Birch's run, so I can understand why they might have said no but it's pretty crap they can't just do both)

Yeah, that is a bit OTT but for fvck's sake what does it prove by saying no? That the club's charity collection is more important than theirs? People will give to both if they're feeling generous. As it is, I can't see many West Ham fans bothering to cob their spare change into Birch's buckets as a result of this.

Why on earth would we say no to this?

Can you only have one charity per match collecting? Ridiculous. Terrible PR as well.

The reasoning is quite fair IMO. The club want fans to donate to the Foxes Foundation, LCFC has the right to prioritise charities.

From a quick look through his twitter page, the lad comes across as one of those busy bodies that loves the attention that comes with charity collecting. The type that would sooner have an extra retweet than an extra penny in his bucket.

On the surface, not good.

BUT,

How many other clubs have their own long-standing charity collections on the last home game of the season?

How much notice did this charity give LCFC before asking to collect for their own charity?

Why should LCFC give priority to a charity that demands it?

Why should LCFC accommodate another charity at short notice alongside their own?

He says no other club has refused but then he also states that Brighton refused at first then donated £1000, and Arsenal refused full stop.

If the club gave in to one small charity's demands at short notice they'd have to give in to all of them. They've accommodated other charities in the past, Bradley Lowry and one of our own TextEllis, which the owners donated to too. But they can't do it for everyone, though they should handle this sort of thing better.

It's one guy with a bucket stood outside the away end. It's not like they're asking the split the revenue from Birch's run is it? Indefensible in my opinion.

No, but they've spent weeks promoting their own charity, and Birch's run has been going for 38 years.

I don't see why they should have to accommodate another charity turning up on the day with 3 days notice, however small it is.

Better organisation, then maybe they would have.

You’d surprise how much this kinda of thing happens where a charity are rejected the right to collect.

Put yourself in the shoes of a charity worker within the Foxes Foundation, this is your one big day for your charity to reach thousands of people and collect money you’d never dream of getting. Lined up for months and months.

There was that famous documentation about nurses asking for footballers to donate a days pay. The majority said no and the media made a huge thing of it. The detail actually was that most footballers already donate a similar amount with part of their bonuses going to charity. To be seen publicly donating to that cause means they would endanger a relationship with their appointed charity.

I don’t really understand his need to get personal and throw it straight on social media. It’s a charity.

It really is unnecessarily nasty towards Jim. There's no need to be so unpleasant.

and it's weird considering he's asking for help towards a charity, yet wishes someone else doesn't get help in future...?

Do have a degree of sympathy with Jim as he's the one who'll have to peddle out the club's bullshit.

Totally unnecessary from LCFC. There are some weird goings on there these days.

Why can't they just stand at the junction of Raw Dykes road and Aylestone Rd. Do they need the clubs permission to do that, I'd  have thought they'd just need police/council permission for that. LCFC don't own the Roads.

As an aside.

- Leicester City Chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha donates £1M to the LCFC Foxes Foundation
- The Club's stars also pledged over £60,000 to help fund equipment urgently required by the Leicester Royal Infirmary
- The Chairman's donation will go towards the LCFC Foxes Foundation projects to help the people of Leicestershire

The Birch doing his run. But they should have explained why. Really badly handled.

The club might have explained why for all we know, surely you would ask why not, but it wouldn't be in the guys interests to pass on that info, as it appears he's trying to discredit the club and make a song and dance of it by publicly announcing it on twitter.

Then perhaps someone should ask him the question and explain it to the many.

How chicken shit is this guy ?? Typical West Ham Knob!!!

LCFC have been & still are very active in the charity dept but to allow any thing to interfere with the Birch run would be an insult.

Well done yet again LCFC
