  1. 1. Should Claude Puel be sacked or backed?

    • Sack him NOW.
    • Keep him and back him in the transfer window.

Sensible and rational people , this is the 3rd coach this squad have basically sacked off , the squad needs to be changed and the coach needs to be backed. We can’t keep sacking good men and claiming they are rubbish when all 3 kept us safe and one delivered us the title

he needs to be given till Christmas and a Whole summer to recruit 5 or 6 players , proven ones

Agreed

THis is the time for the owners to throw money to get the right manager - every £ they spend is through the medium of that manager - if we have ambition then this is the time.

I have been insisting that Puel is not the one.

Today when there was a stoppage when artonovic was injured the player went to get water - puel said nothing to any of them - not tactical instructions .. not motivation ... not urging them to pick up the temp ..... nothing.

WE cannot risk having our club in his hands

I sit in the Kop and noticed this as well - glad you said it, i honestly thought i was imagining a manager on thousands a week doing f all

I could take short term pain for long term gain but it's clear that Claude won't provide the latter.

It's pointless to analyse what happen today. We were beaten before a ball was kicked.

The last week has been the lowest moment club this decade.

He's past the point of no return.

I can't defend him any longer. I think I've only been doing so until recently because he (a) he has a decent second-season record and (b) I don't want our club to get a reputation of being trigger happy with its managers.

But how anyone can think he's the man to trust with our future and a £100M+ transfer kitty in the summer after the last two non-performances beats me.

Most on here seem to agree that the problems at the club run deep, and the dressing room needs a major clear-out. I don't know who all the poor characters are but based on performances/injuries/mardiness we need to ship out:

  • Hamer, Jakupovic
  • Simpson, Morgan, Benalouane, Huth
  • King, James, Mendy
  • Mahrez
  • Musa, Slimani & Ulloa

For me the jury's still out on Iborra, Chilwell, Gray, Silva & Iheanacho, though I'd listen to offers for all of them.

We need a strong manger with a clear vision to oversee what will be our busiest summer ever and our most important since the debacle of 2016. I've tried, but I just can't see Puel moving on the deadwood, still less attracting the players we'll need to compete for a top 8-10 place.

If we do sack him how much are we likely going to have to pay him? I feel like the owners wont be too pleased firstly having to pay Shakespeare a few million and now probably Puel in the same season.

Both managers were desperate for the job - the contracts would have been loaded in our favour, not theirs.

Having said that, shakey would still have probably walked with best part of a million and Claude would take a bit more than that with him. I imagine there is a sacking clause at the end of this season which is coupled to an increased bonus on avoidance of relegation/ league position achieved.

I’ve gone full circle, in before Palace. Out after Palace. I’m still out, but it’s moved on from foaming at the mouth to now feeling sorry for him.

It’s so tragic, and it can only end in one way. There is no way back from where the club and supporters are.

think ive gone like that tbh, though i dont feel sorry for him now,

im just sat thinking WTF are you playing and are you watching something else to the rest of us

on the whole thing, Puel needs to go for me, at the start of his time he we played good free following football but now all it is is a slow build up side to side rubbish, we are so predictable its unreal.and team selection is beyond mind boggling

the sooner he goes the better for me

Things we have none of under the french Peter Taylor:

A plan

Team spirit

Desire

A threat going forward

Inspiration

Penetration

Organisation

Consistency

Pressing the opposition

I'm stuck for positives, having left after the 2nd goal yesterday. They should have sacked the clown at half time, before he does even more damage.

After going back to think we perhaps should be patient with Puel in the week, yesterday irritated and embarrassed me so much I really think we need to get a new manager for next season.

Firstly the Dragovic issue. A ball playing defender who suits Puel’s possession based tactics and has featured in some of our best performances this season was dropped as soon as Wes was fit again. Put back in again recently and we keep a clean sheet and then dropped again. Why?

Iborra again another player that suits his tactics when fit was taken in and out of the team on a regular basis. Why? If he’s so keen on playing this style play the players that suit the system.

Early on in his tenure we looked threatening going forward but we’re now looking completely lacklustre. Does Puel have a plan b tactically? It would seem not as he let both our target men go on loan in January. If a manager has only one way to play then again I’m questioning if he’s got the ability to manage in the Premier League.

On young players it’s great that he’s giving them a chance, but again I question how he’s gone about it. He’s persisted with Chilwell for a long time even when he’s made lots of mistakes rather than perhaps taking him out for a bit. Choudhury has started the past two games and although making a few mistakes has looked brighter than some of the more experienced players and he drags him off at half time in both games. I’m not sure what message or confidence this gives them and the rest of the team.

Finally his overall communication and charisma. He seems to respond with similar answers and tag lines persistently. Is this the language issue? Maybe. But if I’m a player in the dressing room and I’m hearing the same things over and over again I wouldn’t feel inspired.

It’s a risk to get rid of him if we don’t have a decent replacement lined up but it’s also a huge risk to keep him, allow him to spend money and this awful run continues.

It's not your money, don't worry about it.

We should pay whatever it takes to get rid ASAP before we spiral into oblivion, because that's what's happening under this fraud, he's slowly squeezing the life out of this club.

If you can't see what's happening before you're eyes, then you must be blind.

I was a puel in up until the palace and west ham game but I don't get his tactics or his leadership - not communicating with the players when arnotovic was injured. He won't be here next season I just worry who we'll get. Also who want the job?

Benny is a pretty poor centre half but an even worse full back.

In the 1st half , when we were on the attack , we lost possession and was jogging back.

Hammer made a save and corner was given and he had just about made it to the edge of our penalty area.

It's not his fault he was being played out of position, but it is his fault that he's not fit.

He looks a broken man on the touch line and in interviews. It’s painful to watch. He should go for our sake, but also for his. It’s getting embarrassing.

The job is too big for him.

I wish the owners would hurry up and announce their decision so we can move on.

If he is still the manager on Wednesday I don't really want to go to the match against Arsenal,it will be too painful for him, the owners, the fans and the players.

can't understand why he can't communicate with the players, show abit of passion like Sean Dyshe, it shows that the guy above you bothers about how your doing ( well it helps me at work when my manager chats to me when I'm working)

I would as well, but he has the sort of reputation our owners are drawn to. Recently been quoted as saying he has received an offer he will likely accept, I don't think it is beyond the realms of possibility if the rumoured 100 million plus transfer budget is true. He definitely wouldn't stand for funny business from the players. Maybe that's what we need.

He would never come here in a million years.

Delusions of grandeur.
