I'd like to see a Gotze-Shaqiri Duo here.

Imagine Vardy's face in the bath afterwards

Whilst there may be nothing in this (who knows yet), I do think that it would be nice to see him reignite his career with his. Sure, he may have lost some of the early spark he had as a kid, but everyone deserves a break sometimes. Esteban proved that class never truly fades and I'm sure Mario Gotze would still be more than able to prove a few of his doubters wrong.

that's the thing though estebans class didn't fade at all. was a top player throughout his career. Gotze hasn't had a good game for how many years now? As nice as it would be he will never cut it in the prem anymore. would be willing to have him if he didn't demand a high free and he was willing to take a masssive pay cut.

Probably never even heard of us

Of course he's heard of us. His grandad told him stories about bombing our chip shops on the way to Coventry.

With Maddison now on board, rather unlikely we'll sign another attacking midfielder.

Really, I think that's the position we need most. I think the first XI are just about sorted outside the three behind Vardy.

                      Vardy

     ??????  Maddison  ??????

                Ndidi  Silva

Chilwell  Evans  Maguire  Pereira

                Schmeichel

Competing for those two slots in the squad so far are:

Iheanacho - Will mean moving Maddison to RW

Gray  -  Might be his time to shine in what I think is his preferred position of RW

Albrighton  -  May not suit a regular position in that formation

Diabate  -  Done well for the transfer fee so far but jury is still out if he'll be a PL player.

I think we're definitely one player light so far who comes here who is a Maddosn type level signing and let the rest of the squad who I've mentioned above compete for the final slot in the team. If we get that player in and sell about half a dozen of the squad players then that will be a fantastic window for us.

You forget Okazaki, and we still have Slimani on our books. Wonder if Diabaté can be used as an attacking midfielder, too.

And from what I gather, Silva can play in a bit more advanced role in midfield, as well.

Slimani and Okazaki are both surplus to requirements IMO and will both be sold if we can get a reasonable offer. A big "if" though as there has been few links so far.

Okazaki is behind Maddison and Iheanacho for that No10 spot and Slimani can only play if Vardy isn't.

Silva is a No8, he's not creative enough to play No10 and will look exposed in that position if he plays there any length of time.

Of course, we need to see past Okazaki and Slimani at some stage, but it's been rather quiet on that front and it's unlikely we'll sell both in the same window.

We haven't sold any player at all as of yet.

So we do have options for the centre forward/attacking midfielder role with Okazaki, Iheanacho, Diabaté and Maddison (in no particular order). And Silva CAN play in a more advanced role, even though it's not his preferred position. But he has played as an attacking midfielder before - and to be honest, we haven't really seen much of him in a Leicester shirt, have we?

Left and right winger, left-back maybe and another centre-back and we should be sorted.

We will probably sign Roberts as part of the Mahrez deal or something for the RW spot. Given Puel’s preference in youth, I think Gray will get a chance as first choice LW, so we’ll line up with:

Roberts-Maddison-Gray

Vardy

Our second string:

Diabate-Okazaki-Albrighton

Iheanacho

Barnes as back up/eventual replacement for Shinji. I wouldn’t be surprised if Diabate/Albrighton work their way into the first team though because tbh the first string front four looks weak on paper, but I think that’s the most likely scenario.

I’d love to see an ambitious bid go in but the player I think would prefer to go to Liverpool and work with Klopp again.

In your opinion, who's a no. 2?

Is this supposed to be funny? Surely you've heard of the classic number 8 position. Number 2 is right back in my head
