Simple question. You've all read the permutations, we've just kicked off, top or second?

Top play in near 30 degree heat against Japan but then have to face Brazil or Mexico.

If you win that you get Uruguay, Portugal, France or Argentina.

Second play Colombia in Moscow before meeting Sweden or Switzerland.

Winning that sets you up with Spain, Russia, Croatia or Denmark.

Oh and if you vote 2nd, will you literally cheer if Belgium score? lol

England can still finish second with a draw, provided they earn five more yellows than Belgium tonight. Belgium lead 6-2 in that department right now.

I think it's more balanced that people think.

Harder 2nd round match

Easier quarter final match

Harder/equal semi final? Spain probably at least on par with any of the 4 teams in the top quarter.

I sense the English fans now caught somewhere in the middle between delusion („piece of cake“) and some kind of inexplicable grand fear, given the fact that it‘s probably never been easier to reach the semi-final than right now. Colombia, then Switzerland/Sweden and finally Spain, Croatia, Russia or Denmark...

On paper, it‘s all unfolding according to the Southgate Masterplan...
