I get that logically Gomez is seen as individually better defensively than TAA but I'm not sure that holds up when:

 

A. Gomez isn't brilliant positionally at full back.

Totally agree. I was screaming at the TV. I thought Thiago Silva was the worst, wonderful player but shameful play-acting.  Over and over again. He just threw himself to the ground for Liverpool's late free kick and the ref fell for it hook, line and sinker. Great talent but a grade A cheat.
