Excellent player ruined by injuries. If he'd kept fit I honestly believe he'd have played for England as he has loads of talent, tidy, good vision and touch, good feet, also physical and a good head on his shoulders.

Wasn't to be, his legs were too frail for his frame and now his body is ****ed. I wonder if he spent too long in the gym on his upper body strength which led to him being injury prone.

Will struggle to loan him to a championship club.

It's not as easy as it sounds. They have to strike a deal with us to cover some of his wages and would any team really want a squad place taken up for a year by a player with his injury record and risk their budget on a player who is always injured. 

It's going to take a club to take a big chance on him to take him on and I fear it would be too much of a risk to potential loan clubs.

I generally fear for his future.

Vichai and Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha when you read this the clear majority view with 70% recommending to try to settle Matty James into a new home which unless a buyer can be found means handing him to big Nige to nurture back to health and try to resurrect/rescue his career. That would then free up a squad number for a more resilient player.

Agreed. I really don't think some people get how this works. They are players with contracts not slaves to be bought and sold.

If it really was so easy to get rid Musa would have gone last season Slim would be sold by now. Benny, Kingy James Simmo and even Wes would be off our books.

I feel for Matty but he’s surely nowhere near the first 11?

Is he put on loan somewhere and I’ve missed it?

Extremely limited player, certainly not good enough for top ten side, could perhaps be a Huddersfield reserve with a bit of fitness, weight loss and hard work. 

 

Worries me to think somebody made the decision to give the cnut a new contract

Feel sorry for the guy.

 

He'd obviously be an asset as a squad player but he's more in the sickbay than on the bench. Some sportsmen are just cursed, talent is there but the body just doesn't follow. Maybe a league which isn't as physically demanding as the PL would suit him more.

Let be honest, he more than likely never going to be fit enough to play  15-20 games in a row.

 

Time has moved on, CM is a area of the squad that need an overhaul.

The contract extension is mad. It is a pity, as for a season or so he showed great promise. 

 

He has no future here and needs to move on if he eventually wants to play regular competitive football, all be it at a lower level.

Clearly, Col was having a nightmare that Matty James was given a lucrative 4 year contract extension contract extension until 30 June 2022 ....and then suffered the shock that it is true...what else could he have done, it's far too early for a stiff drink.

Cheer up @Col city fan, Matty's obviously signed a contract extension so that he can be here when we lift the Champions League trophy. Of course he'll need help with going full kit w@nker before the trophy presentation as it's not easy when you're on crutches.
