the worst pop i've ever had is that stuff in america, root beer.

Some root beer is better than others. I like the one served at A&W.

Purdey's original

Pepsi Max

Fanta Fruit Twist

Good Root Beer (eg. Soda Folk)

Cawston Press Rhubarb

Original Red Bull

Irn Bru

Hawaiian Punch (import only, but Ka Fruit Punch isn't a bad immitation)

Hard to pick a favourite, probably Hawaiian Punch

Lemon Fanta from a foreign country

Don't really drink fizzy drinks, but this is a big name in the community.

Not enough shouts for Vimto, either.

I'm sitting here, drinking Vimto, thinking how underrated it is. Dandelion and Burdock is another old fashioned treat. I like Cola but which one is best?

As a younger person I loved Dandelion and Burdock and even drank pepsi (much preferred to coke), though I did like Cherry coke and I really enjoyed the fizzy ribena. Nowadays I understand what is in most of these drinks and hardly ever drink them.

I remember Top Deck. A youngsters version of Shandy. Limeade & lager if memory serves me right.

From memory it was Lager and Lime, Lemonade Beer Shandy and there was also a cider one, which I never tried.

I know the alcohol in them was minimal but it's incredible to think they sold it to kids in every sweet shop of the day. Imagine parents these days if there was actually alcohol in fizzy drinks? Mind you, Spanish holiday resorts did it in reverse, I've had a few cocktails in Spain that definitely had fvck all alcohol in them.

Classic Coca-Cola or Cherry Coke. All the rest got ruined by the addition of sweetners to their recipes. I can't stand the aftertaste.

I'm just surprised you all call it "pop." I thought that was only a Midwestern USA thing. Sometimes when I travel, i say pop and realize what a folksy word it is to describe it.

The weirdest regional variation is in the south, where they describe every form of soft drink as "coke." So at a fast food restaurant, you might hear something like "What kind of coke do you want today?" and a perfectly reasonable answer would be "Pepsi."

Pop isn't that common a phrase here anymore, but everyone knows what you mean if you call it that

Usually "fizzy drink", or "soft drink" (formal)

Calling every fizzy drink a "coke" would piss me off. Like how Mancunians call all sweets (candy) a toffee, even if it's not made of toffee, or not toffee flavour.
