Simpson, Morgan, Fuchs, elder, Benalouane and Okazaki are all out of contract this summer. That’s close to £200k p/w wages + Slimani, king possible silva or Iborra moving on, that may be where the money is coming from.

How does that account for this season?

Great news, although the cynic in me wonders whether there is a release clause but whatever 5 more years of slab head.

This season we can spend the money from the champions league because it falls in this years end finances

This was a wage issue though, we'd supposedly maxed our yearly increase.

Is he carries on playing well for England and Leicester, can actually see a club like Barcelona and Real Madrid making some sort of bid for him.

Noticed during the game yesterday that even their centre-halves struggled at times during corners to stop him from getting to the ball.

No release clause Tuna, you will never see them again after our arse got bitten with the greedy little gits move to Chelsea.

Wonder who's next for new contracts then? Gray & Chilwell should be a priority. Mendy too if he keeps fit and performing. Albrighton only has a couple of years left.

I'd love to see Wes get a new one purely to see the reaction on here.

Good news, pleased to see where we're heading with lengths of new player contracts and extensions, we're so lucky to have Rudkin......All we need now is to get Morgan's signature for another 5 years...

We’ve only (almost) cleared the mess that the huge contracts we gave out in summer 16 got us in. The only players who should be given contracts are the ones who would be paid more elsewhere, albrighton does not fit into that category. Also, if Wes was offered a new contract I doubt he’d be offered half of what his current deal is p/w.

I might be cynical, but I doubt his stock will be higher than it was this summer. Maybe I'm wrong and he will get even better and if he does, that's great. We'll probably have priced many clubs out of buying him at this point.

Thats exactly what the owners wanted to do.

And that's all well and good if he keeps playing to the levels we know he can (or even get better). If he keeps being inconsistent (or worse still stagnate), then we might come to rue that Man Utd's approach was rebuffed.

I understand what you’re saying, but it’s hindsight. He was playing well for us, had a great WC and suits the style Puel wants to play. Selling him incase he became inconsistent would have made no sense.

The whole team has being inconsistent and that’s not unusual after the transfer window and when our style has changed dramatically.

If we’d sold him we’d have replaced him with someone on par (at best) or an unknown (at PL level). Those two are Evans and Soyuncu, maybe we’d have spent more on another CB but I doubt it.

Rolling over to Man Utd in the last couple of days in the transfer window would have made bigger ripples than simply losing the player.

Anybody know what the wages are or rumoured to be on this?

Sky said £80,000 a week, Times went with £90,000 a week.
