Great new news to have these players on long contracts now, others will now have to pay through the nose for them if we sell.

Hopefully none of these new contracts have those stupid release clauses in them like Kante’s did if they have let’s hope it’s a bit above the market value.

So apparently Puel says in today’s presser that he doesn’t know if Maguires new contract has a release clause in it if not.

Really?

He probably does know and playing dumb, so he doesn't get asked the details of every new contract or player signed.  I doubt there is, but I imagine it would be £100m + if so and definitely not a low number, otherwise it would have not been in our interest to give him a new contract.

I know his mumbling broken English can be a bit hard on the ear sometimes, but he’s actually very skilled at avoiding giving answers to questions he’s not keen on.

Quite possible he doesn't know the terms of the contract if that's negotiated by Rudkin and Puel just says a player is important to the squad or not in first team plans etc.

We don’t do release clauses and we wouldn’t have bothered adding a year to his current deal if it meant inserting one.

And in the event that we did, a player on 80k/week wouldn’t warrant a RC of 100 m

Seems to be the last piece in the backbone jigsaw. At least Puel has his rocks that he can build around with some semblance of stability, until of course the press think the player is too good to be stuck at Leicester City.

Since when?

I did say I doubt that there is one though, but if there is, it would no doubt be a very high one, as otherwise not in our interest at all to give him a new contract with one inserted.

He probably does but doesn't want to shout about it to the press who are desperate for Maguire to leave.

No buy-out clause in his new contract according to SSN

They’ve also said that it was one of the “key sticking points” in the new contract so does that mean Maguire and his representatives were after one to make it easier for him to leave?

Must admit that was the first thing that crossed my mind...
