Just change it to Carnival de Paris, which is what Union Fs start playing anyway, and we all bounce along to?

just get it played through the PA system.

(1m15 onwards)

Good shout.

Was also thinking 'This Girl', ie, the Porto goal music but think the above is probably better.

I was never keen on that kasabian tune anyway, but I dunno I always preferred when they played the porn gallop for a goal.

At least if my Mrs checks my search history I can now tell her that I was looking for a post horn :)

Apart from the obvious reasons, is it just me that thinks Fire is an absolute dirge anyway?

Just a song that never goes anywhere.

I'd rather we didn't have goal music at all but even still there's plenty more fitting Kasabian songs than Fire anyway

A lot of folks at the club are grieving-- does it make sense to bombard Jim now, especially since there's plenty of time until the next home game?

Ridiculous that this is even a thing.

As I said in another thread, the English language is an adaptable and flexible tool and words have several meanings.

Certainly that song isn't talking about being physically on fire but, even if it were, where does it stop?!

Singing that Vardy's on fire? You can't say that to talk about his form.

Flame-grilled burger on the concourse menu or in the restaurant? Scrap that.

Opposition teams chanting about building a bonfire whilst in our stadium? Ban them all for life.

Tragic incident. Horrible way to go. No need to find fault or hidden meaning in everything.

It's definitely a thing ..... It would sound awful being played after this tragedy.

Has anyone made the club that Ring Of Fire shouldn't be chanted in the stadium? It would sound awful after this tragedy

Have no idea what this means.

Sure, if you just take the goal music bit from the song, it's just used in the "Vardy's on fire" context which is fairly harmless.

But if you actually look at the full lyrics for the song, it really does go way beyond inappropriate.

"Wire me up to machines, I'll be your prisoner
Find it hard to believe you are my murderer
I'm on fire behind you
It's a fallen sky"

Surely you can see how some people might be uncomfortable with keeping the song?

I agree but bound to be many who look for a hidden meaning.

An alternative Kasabian ditty who make it more seemless if a change needed.

i find The use of Hey Jude embarrassing.

when your smiling please ?

That's the point. If you go looking for these things, you will find them.

Ricky Gervais wrote a great article once about how choosing to take offence at a joke is a choice. I think the same principle applies here; if you choose to find discomfort in it then you will do.

On the other hand if you don't, you won't.

Even if you do feel a modicum of discomfort in it then after the first couple of times it will, or should, pass. Everyone has more important things to think about both at the club right now and in the wider world.
