Silva Fox Posted 10 December 2018 Posted 10 December 2018 Lazy journalism? Can't see any new links so probably just recycling previous speculation. Don't think he would add to the current side other than playing Vardy in.
Stevosevic Posted 10 December 2018 Posted 10 December 2018 I've come round to taking him back if we can't get anyone better We need a box to box midfielder to play alongside Ndidi/Mendy.

Corky Posted 10 December 2018 Posted 10 December 2018 Of the realistic options, he's the best. Although we are overcrowded for central midfielders, he would be the most dynamic on the ball. I do wonder how his confidence would be after the last 15 months plus no games this season.

Bossman Blessed It Posted 10 December 2018 Posted 10 December 2018 In Drinkwater's position I think it's fair to say he did the right thing in terms of his career when he left to go to Chelsea. Aside from the fact that we made a solid profit on him, you can't fault a player for wanting to play at the very highest level with some of the best players in the league. Granted, it was a risk that didn't pay off for him, but I think we lack that forward drive at times with our current central midfielders and bare in mind he played over 200 games for us and certainly left his mark. Not least the fact that him and Vardy were almost telepathic at times, but with Maddison in the hole, he could certainly feed the ball to Maddison at a speed that none of our midfielders currently do. At 28, he's going to have a few years left in the tank. I would say he definitely looks back at his time here fondly, especially given the lack of chances he's had at Chelsea. I think anything up to £15 million would be worth paying.

I'm sure the posts on this forum would support that if I could be bothered to look. Why would Chelsea spend 35m on him if he had just had a terrible season for bottom half Leicester?
VLC86 Posted 10 December 2018 Posted 10 December 2018 Anyone who wouldn’t take him is an ostrich. On loan obviously, I can’t see us forking out for his wages.
Fightforever Posted 10 December 2018 Posted 10 December 2018 Drinkwater would be exactly what we need right now. Get him if we can't get anyone better.
Fox92 Posted 10 December 2018 Posted 10 December 2018 Without doubt I'd take him back. His range of passing and ability to pick a ball out is something we've lacked since he left.
urban.spaceman Posted 10 December 2018 Posted 10 December 2018 He's barely played more than 500 minutes of football since moving to Chelsea. Not only is that because he’s been dogged by injuries but also because when he did play, he’d lost the magic touch by quite a long way. I’ll love him for his time here but he’s 28, injury-prone and has barely kicked a ball in 18 months. That doesn’t really fit with Puel’s philosophy of trusting youth either.

You do realise he's not getting even close to playing at the moment? No where near good enough, he won't be back at Leicester. We need to improve and move forward and not keep looking back at ex-players/managers

But passing sideways and creating nothing for 90 minutes does? I would rather go against it.

Have you seen the players infront of him? Every single one would walk in to sides outside of the top 6. He'll be back at a mid table club like us soon

I don't disagree,. but i doubt it'll be here.
Leicester_Loyal Posted 10 December 2018 Posted 10 December 2018 Not worth the transfer fee and wages he'd command unfortunately. All the best to him at his next club.
TheUltimateWinner Posted 10 December 2018 Posted 10 December 2018 I'd be happy if he came back, we could do with a sort of player like him in our midfield.
Tuna Posted 10 December 2018 Posted 10 December 2018 He won't come back as the player we remember. Avoid.
Dan Posted 10 December 2018 Posted 10 December 2018 I'm convinced it would be a mistake. - 28 years old, turns 29 in March. - Likely on a six figure a week wage, so becomes one of our highest earners. - No sell on value. Also reckon you'd be paying a good £10mil or more for him as well. - Has barely played in the past year and a half. It's not even him leaving us that bothers me. For example you'd all take Kante or Mahrez back. I'm just not convinced he's worth what we'll pay considering there's no guarantee you'd get the same Drinkwater as before. I think we can do better if our scouts are switched on. I did like him but we sold him at the right kind of time for me (I say kind of because it was a bit too late).
wokinghamfox Posted 10 December 2018 Posted 10 December 2018 Anybody who is against taking DD back cant be watching Wilf's ability to distribute a ball at present.
MPH Posted 11 December 2018 Posted 11 December 2018 i think it will be tough for him to be accepted back into the dressing room. He basically jumped ship.
