grobyfox1990 Posted 6 January 2019 Posted 6 January 2019 Lol this is an melodramatic thread, as if we were ever going to win the FA cup anyway, to all the nostalgic FA Cup romantics out there, one of the top 6 are inevitably going to win by playing their B teams all the way to the final. This is one bad day, that literally everyone has regularly. People seem to have forgotten we've just beaten Chelsea, Man City and Everton in the past 15 days. I would love 7th place and a chance to go to some European away games. To those saying 'what's the point, we won't win the Europa anyway' - well in that case we were never going to win the FA cup, so why on earth are you upset today?!? We were also never going to win the Champions League, but i bet you all had a good time in it!
Farrington fox Posted 6 January 2019 Posted 6 January 2019 If we were to finish 7th does that mean we’ll be involved in the Europa league thing, like Burnley?

Cincinnati Fox Posted 6 January 2019 Posted 6 January 2019 If we win every game until the end of the season we would have 82 points and we might get 4th place
HesNotGudjonsonn2 Posted 6 January 2019 Posted 6 January 2019 Football fans are mental. So many stating he could have played a stronger team. How many of us looked at the team before kick off and felt it strong enough to beat lower league opposition? I did and looking at it again I would put the same team out if we played them again. 9 out of 10 times we would have won. It was an off game, we couldn’t shoot and couldn’t score. It was a cup upset and they happen. On a positive note, in the last five games we have beaten Man City, Chelsea and Everton and lost to Cardiff and Newport....we won’t be playing any more Welsh teams so winning all the way! Good Times!
fleckneymike Posted 6 January 2019 Posted 6 January 2019 I'm glad that we can now concentrate on not qualifying for Europe via the league, having successfully avoided qualifying via the cup competitions. Plus 7th doesn't qualify for Europe, only 5th does. As do the two cups. Only if one of the top 5 win a cup does 7th offer a route into Europe (and only then via the third qualifying round).
the fox Posted 6 January 2019 Posted 6 January 2019 Some People value cups so much. Even when the team was in their way to win the league, some said they would rather win the cup for some reason.
reynard Posted 6 January 2019 Posted 6 January 2019 I'm sure players will be excited about the challenge of 7th place. Does it come with a medal for their cabinets? 7th is not guaranteed a European place and Puel would just chuck some reserve outfit at it in any case. We still require 9 points to be certain of staying up so I suppose there still some excitement left as well as enjoying our slow and deliberate and methodical play, especially the accuratre sideways passing. Perhaps we could have a goal challenge for the players with a bonus for any that manage to hit the target and score more than 1 in 25 attempts.
smudgerfox Posted 6 January 2019 Posted 6 January 2019 51 minutes ago, smudgerfox said: Bryn - we don’t play to any striker’s strengths. Puel literally cannot set up a side to score goals. This is why getting all excited about a pathetic 1-0 win against a half asleep Everton makes no sense. Our best striker is Vardy and he often appears frustrated and isolated. As a replacement or a strike partner in twelve months, Puel has had at his disposal Ulloa, Slimani, Musa and Iheanacho - none have succeeded. 24 minutes ago, turtmcfly said: How could he have failed? The question you have to answer is what kind of striker that LCFC could realistically expect to sign would actually suit Claude Puel’s playing style ? Where is this twenty goal a season striker who thrives on playing thirty yards from his nearest teammate for most of the game? Or being played slow ball in tight corners for the rest? People are now saying Iheanacho is crap but he has definitely gone backwards under CP - to the point where you may as ell discount him for the rest of the season. What kind of player development is that?
Tielemans63 Posted 6 January 2019 Posted 6 January 2019 It's a shame we lost to Newport because we were definitely going to win the FA Cup this year otherwise. We've got a far better chance of winning a trophy that we've never actually won than we have of finishing in the position we actually currently occupy.

I wouldn't play James if I had the chance to play them again. Totally unfit and not ready for competitive football based on today's showing. Sadly had a terrible time of it through injury but he's nowhere near the pace required to play in this kind of game, let alone in the league where it's clearly more serious. I don't think we'll see James again in a Leicester shirt and that doesn't bother me one bit, as harsh as that may sound. He's better off trying to revive his career elsewhere. Newport just wanted it more. Desired the win more and were hungrier for it. I do like the positive notes though

Mark 'expert' Lawrenson Posted 6 January 2019 Posted 6 January 2019 When playing a weakened side and losing I wonder what the the rested players think, are they glad of the rest or are Chilwell, Harry, Kasper, Vardy etc gutted about seeing any chance of silverwear gone. These are our best players and obviously want to be winners.
North Leeds Fox Posted 6 January 2019 Posted 6 January 2019 It's rubbish that we are out the cup and I would always love a cup run. Hopefully though, it will mean we have a chance for 4 months to play relatively pressure free of results and set up a system to progress our play against every team that comes to the KP and sits back. Try out a few new prospect players like soyuncu, get Barnes back and play him for the rest of the season and make sure they are all ready for next season. Give the out of contract title winners a big send off for the final home game as they deserve it and use that as a clean slate. Apart from the chance to play the EL (from July and without our main internationals), it doesn't really matter if we play 3 up top or 3 at the back for example, it is a free hit as no way are going down and at least would be fun to watch as we get to watch our young talents progress
squidsworth Posted 6 January 2019 Posted 6 January 2019 Awful shameful day for lcfc. Team to win a cup for vichai? What the hell happen to that? Players like nacho who never have and never will give a f**k about us. Manager about the same, as rely on same old same old. Insipid boring crap week in week out, and we believe this is the future. Puel has a few lucky results and a terrible event or he'd be gone long ago. This is no way to honour a great mans memory though.
Corky Posted 6 January 2019 Posted 6 January 2019 Oh well, at least it will be chilled out on here from now on if the results mean nothing.....
