Izzy Posted 24 May 2019 Posted 24 May 2019 I know TM is hugely unpopular on here and in general but must admit I feel for her as a person. Despite her shortcomings and mistakes I still believe she genuinely tried her best. I'm sure she'll go down in history as one of the worst PM's ever and I do wonder if the job was ultimately too big for her. Be interesting to see who's next and we should be careful who we wish for...

The thought of BoJo as PM sickens me, though.

She never stood a chance and I felt quite sorry for her towards the end of her tenure like you say be careful what you wish for!
Jimothy Posted 24 May 2019 Posted 24 May 2019 Why have lifted posts about May being a awful person been deleted? He cited her voting record as a reason, he's entitled to that opinion.

Simple explanation - the only people who actually like centrist technocrats are lobby journalists. So they receive a disproportionate and overly favourable amount of coverage from the Westminster bubble but once the initial wave of interest is dispersed you find out that nobody on the outside has any time for them.

Was it possible for her to do a worse job than what she did? Maybe, but only slightly. I can't see the Cons recovering even after she's gone, they have lost a lot of votes permanently.
purpleronnie Posted 24 May 2019 Posted 24 May 2019 Well farage got rid of one terrible prime minister but it led to us leaving the EU...so thanks for that...but then we got an even worse PM which farage helped to got rid of....but that may lead to a right wing nationalist isolationist who couldn't give a crap about you and me...so thanks for that.

No one believed a word that said about No Deal - if they did her agreement probably passes through the house.
Bobby Hundreds Posted 24 May 2019 Posted 24 May 2019 There's still no parliamentary majority, I don't see how anything will change unless there's a GE. I can see Boris getting it by default and it being even more of a car crash than May's reign.

She no doubt had a hard job, but she nailed her Brexit colours to the mast and then went back on everything she said. The constant failure to deliver on her promises and the 'no deal is better than a bad deal' line would have annoyed plenty. You can't quote something like that and then go back on it and say leaving with no deal would be a disaster.

RoboFox Posted 24 May 2019 Posted 24 May 2019 "The country I love". All she ever cared about was the job. Johnson will be next, it's all he's ever cared about too. The tears were for herself, nobody else. Still at the bitter end, trying convince herself that she has been the champion of social justice for all. Her utter desperation to cling on to power, to become the hero to steer the country onto the right path has been her downfall. She'll go down in history as an abject failure. BUT we should be careful what we wish for. Still, two Tories installed at number 10 without a GE. Glad to see sovereignty and democracy restored to this great nation, eh?

Izzy Posted 24 May 2019 Posted 24 May 2019 @lifted*fox Can't reply to you mate as your post has been deleted? I'm good thanks mate and nice to hear from you. Probably best we don't talk about TM as I'd hate for us to fall out over an old lady Peace bro x

It was farcical by the end, I don't think even her own family believed we were leaving in October without a deal. A remain voter who never believed in Brexit. 10 minutes ago, Bobby Hundreds said: There's still no parliamentary majority, I don't see how anything will change unless there's a GE. May pushed through the statue that moved the date of departure - a new PM is perfectly entitle to take us out on no deal if they wish and if they want to stop them they'll need a vote of NC. This is why I've been so surprised at Remainers gambling everything for a second referendum. Absolutely fine while May was there - dubious tactics to say the least now.

CosbehFox Posted 24 May 2019 Posted 24 May 2019 Worrying we are going to have a vocal racist, adulterer, liar, and all around idiot in charge of this country.

Crazy.

Correct and now those same moderates are crying about the possibility of boris leading us into a no deal Brexit...well you had your chance(s) and blew it.
