A phobia is an irrational fear or hatred; it’s a perfectly rational position to fear or hate a religious doctrine, particularly in the way it’s implemented. That’s not the same as hating the people who practice it, which is wrong - I’d have no problem with terms like Muslimophobia or AntiMuslim to describe it. It’s no coincidence that the OIC - who have tried and failed for years to get “defamation of religion” AKA blasphemy laws through the UN, are now pushing this definition. Under this definition Maajid is a racist. Charlie Hebdo were slandered as racists before the bodies were even ****ing cold. 100,000 people signed a petition to the British government saying a French publication shouldn’t be allowed to criticise their religion. I’m still Charlie. 100% this is a political move by Labour - I don’t think I can morally vote for them again while they still have this definition on the books. It is blasphemy laws through the back door and only seeks to criminalise atheist, ex-Muslims and reformers. 54 minutes ago, urban.spaceman said: The actual word is completely nonsensical. It is blasphemy laws through the back door and only seeks to criminalise atheist, ex-Muslims and reformers. Let's quote the article you linked to: The messages included one from an individual who wrote that they would like to “turf all Muslims out of public office”. Another said they wanted to “get rid of all mosques”. Many comments were found on a Facebook group supporting Jacob Rees-Mogg. A third said they could not vote for Sajid Javid, the home secretary, in any forthcoming leadership race because that would amount to a vote for “Islam to lead this country”. A post in the Facebook group supporting Rees-Mogg, which showed a map of all mosques in Britain, provoked several hostile responses, including: “This is not a Muslim country” and “We’re just letting the takeover happen”. Replace "Muslims" for "Jews" and you see past your problems with the terms "phobia" and "race" and see the problem. So the Tories don't want people who judge people based on region. Shock horror.

Jon the Hat Posted 27 March 2019 Posted 27 March 2019 If May goes I support the deal. With her I have zero confidence in the final outcome. With a new leader we may come to a good future relationship despite the crap withdrawal agreement

Maybe she was only trying to implement what the people voted for after all...
Legend_in_blue Posted 27 March 2019 Posted 27 March 2019 May or no May, this deal satisfies noone who placed a vote. Noone. It'll be brought back to the people after a lengthy extension.

Legend_in_blue Posted 27 March 2019 Posted 27 March 2019 She doesn't have the numbers to pass it through.
purpleronnie Posted 27 March 2019 Posted 27 March 2019 Incredible that rees mog who seems to have gained popularity because he talks with a posh accent might now be willing to vote for mays deal, a deal he stated would turn britiain into a vassal state. I think I pretty much dislike every politician....must be some good ones out there...surely.
EnderbyFox Posted 27 March 2019 Posted 27 March 2019 Boris confirms he'll now back the deal.. was never about Brexit for him. What a surprise he's now backing the deal now theres a sniff of a leadership contest, horrible man

The DUP are now talking about abstention - of that's true she probably needs about ten from Labour if the ERG switch. If parliament had accepted the result and were united in wanting to implement it I'd be all up for a long extension to try and find consensus - problem is when you have so many now either wanting to revoke or vote again you have to take the chance to kill them off and then hope you can alter the course of negotiation in the next stage. Sad but necessary.

Buce Posted 27 March 2019 Posted 27 March 2019 “If we vote for the PM’s lamentable withdrawal agreement we are skewered.” Bozo Johnson yesterday. This is the man who would be Prime Minister. Shameless scum.

I'd be surprised if he made the final two in a leadership contest - if I had to guess now I'd be going with Raab and Javid. Outside bets on Mordant and Mercer.
Bobby Hundreds Posted 27 March 2019 Posted 27 March 2019 Boris doesn’t have a chance. His career is done. Imagine backing that man for serious negotiations.
EnderbyFox Posted 27 March 2019 Posted 27 March 2019 I've had a tenner on David Davis as the next Tory leader for as long as I can remember so I have a particularly vested interest in this leadership election

What a shambles. The shambles will continue. No doubt of that.
Bryn Posted 27 March 2019 Posted 27 March 2019 Exploitative arse holes. None of this has anything to do with the national interest and everything to do with Tories jostling for power.
StanSP Posted 27 March 2019 Posted 27 March 2019 The candidates for the next leader are absolutely appalling . Raab, Javid, Rees-Mogg, Gove, Johnson. Literally not one appealling candidate at all.
Buce Posted 27 March 2019 Posted 27 March 2019 All about the DUP now. I wonder what price they put on their integrity this time?
