A good series win, but once again England struggle in the first test (although I realise illness does not help). This is consistent over many many overseas tours - the MCC should insist on a longer build up to the first test.

I was very downbeat after that first test, but to come back like they did was excellent.

Yeah it was the worst South Africa side I can remember, but to win there with arguably three of the main line bowlers out is pretty impressive especially on not overly helpful pitches. Was impressed in Root and the team’s ability to come up with a plan to get people out just as it looked as if they might not like they did with van der Dussen today.

The way the young players have come in have been fantastic and can see Crawley playing at three when Burns returns. Suddenly there’s options including with the spinners ahead of Sri Lanka.

Not solely a problem for us, but these daft two-day glorified nets that now seem to be favoured never do the touring teams any good. At miminum they should be playing one or two matches under First Class conditions (either three or four days) against local opposition to help them acclimatise. The stupid 62-a-side affairs are just a waste of time. Be better off playing Kwik Cricket.

We used to play that at school- I hated the format. We used to lose five runs if a wicket was taken, so you could in effect play a great shot for four, get a crap decision and lose one run and that boundary counts for nothing.

Can't insist on facing decent players in those warm up games

That's not the issue. The South Africa tour is not untypical - a 2 day game, followed by a 3 day game (both at same ground) were only games before First Test. Competitive cricket over 4 days against franchised sides (or provincial sides next tour) was needed. The Aussies last summer played several games against county sides before any international games; England should similarly insist on a longer build up.

I'm guessing no one or only a few watched NZ vs India ODI?!

Shami rescued the innings to take it to a super over then Sharma hits 2 sixes with 10 off 2 needed in the batting innings to win the game.

NZ must really hate super overs lol

NZ lose another super over!

Not sure I can sympathise with them on this one. Looks like they snatched a tie from the jaws of victory in regulation overs!

True! That was a relatively weaker India side too given the series is won so they should have polished us off in those regulation overs.

Sounds like we're not really arsed about winning these ODIs? Not sure that's going to make it a great learning experience for the new players that strategy is meant to benefit?

They said that as we lost the 1st Test....

Well bowled Rashid.

Both him and Ali have made a good return.

Fielding hasn’t helped the figures.

Neither has bowling Root. We’ve got specialist one day bowlers in the side. I just don’t get it. No wickets and expensive.

I may be wrong but I have a feeling Chris Jordan may not be the most intelligent person on the planet.

Why did Morgan let him have the final over?

Missed the start, but looking at the bowlers list am I right in thinking Root bowled before Rashid and Ali?

if so that’s bizarre.

He's seen as a good bowler at the death apparently. Tbf, anyone bowling to Miller, with a small leg side boundary would struggle. 256 is below par. If we lose this it will be the batsmen that come under scrutiny

Roots awful bowling display should be being looked at, not Jordan.

Jordan is a world class death bowler.
