Ahead of Anelka and Keane now and level with Hasselbaink. Only twenty three behind Owen too - not bad for somebody who isn’t a ‘natural finisher.’

Owen's a tw4t. It will be great when he goes past him. He already has a better goals to games ratio anyway.

Vardys always a threat the guys a legend.  I said in the Daka thread he doesn’t influence games like he used to but was still scoring . Today he was more like the old Vardy he was a pure menace and didn’t give the defenders a moments rest with playing of the shoulder . For me that’s Vardy at his best

What did the celebration mean?

We all know Vardy has way more in his locker than Owen gave him credit for, but even if he was just someone who put his foot through it when finishing, if someone got put through on goal 10 times, and scored 8 by putting their laces through it each time, and someone else scored 7 through a variety of finishes, who is the "natural finisher".

It'll be good when he does it because people will stop banging on about it.

It was clearly wrong and Owen is a shit pundit we can all agree. Maybe just let the whole thing go though...? I don't really understand why we are holding on to one daft comment for so long. Don't waste your breath on the bloke.

Suspect a few of them don't like Ranieri much

Wasn’t even aimed at Ranieri it was towards Mike Stowell and why would they not like him they won the league with him .

What did he do?

After his first he ran upto the technical area and a knee slide celebration commenced. Wasn't sure if it was shithousery towards Ranieri but from my angle it seemed he ran past him and towards BR. :dunno:

Made a beeline for the halfway line and slid on his knees. Very blatantly making some sort of point, I'm just not sure what it was!

Didn't stuff come out afterwards in the papers from staff and players? saying "the best thing he did during that season was to change nothing", and clearly he changed everything the next season, looking like he lost the dressing room.

And apparently his disrespect during the Vichai tribute game he was invited back for (Percy article)

Schwarzer said the success of 15/16 was largely down to Stowell and Shakespeare

Got to love a good urban myth if that’s was the case how come they couldn’t replicate the winning formula when Shakespeare was manager and Stowell his right hand man . The amount of people that try to discredit Ranieri for our title win beggars believe.

If I remember correctly it was rumoured that he got stabbed in the back by some of the back room staff not the players . And that’s what caused the friction on his return .

I dunno, that’s a bloke who was actually in with the squad and on the training ground committing his opinion.

Shakespeare did to be fair in the immediate aftermath

There were plenty of stuff in the media around his relationship with the players at the time of his sacking... banning them from seeing partners, changing formation 30 mins before kick off (Copenhagen away I think), etc.

Some more from the Percy article

Problem is we’ll never know the truth .It just annoys me the amount of times he gets discredited for having anything to do with us winning the league .

I’ll be completely honest here. He was perfect for us at the time and his tactical shift about ten games in. His media work was superb in taking the pressure off and it played out brilliantly.

However by the end I was pretty annoyed with him. Really had hoped that we’d improve and it could have mutually left end at the season.

Some of the away performances were eye watering bad. The farce at Copenhagen where he changed a team on the bus for example
