holyfox Posted 27 May 2019 Posted 27 May 2019 Apologies mods if this is in the wrong place but I think we really need to prepare for this potential game changing news. I’ve just seen on the BBC website that the Crown Prince of the UAE Sheikh Khalid Bin Nahyan is about to take over Newcastle Utd. The guy doesn’t mess around and anyone who has been to Dubai will see that they throw money at making sure they have the ‘best’ most upto date of everything. I fear that they could be the next Manchester City. As much as I love our owners, these guys would have been ideal joint owners. I really hope I’m wrong! http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/48420387
Nickfosse Posted 27 May 2019 Posted 27 May 2019 I shall prepare for this in the same way I have all my Leicester City supporting life, by accepting where we are in the football food chain and hoping we can punch above our weight has we have on several magnificent occasions.
Koke Posted 27 May 2019 Posted 27 May 2019 Last thing we need is another club bank rolled by oil money. There's not much we can do other than follow the Spurs model on terms of being self sufficient whilst still competrting. I have no problem with Newcastle fans, most of them are sound, but it'll be funny seeing True Geordie react to this after he's been shitting on Man City for years.
What the Fuchs? Posted 27 May 2019 Posted 27 May 2019 Maybe they can ‘invest’ in a decent view for away fans
TonyN11 Posted 27 May 2019 Posted 27 May 2019 Maybe we could ask for a large investment from Kevin Prince Boateng
Ashley Posted 27 May 2019 Posted 27 May 2019 Did this bloke try to buy Liverpool but he could not provide proof of funds
dyanmark Posted 27 May 2019 Posted 27 May 2019 Ironic this thread contributed by ASHLEY obviously trying to get it over the line.Way ayy pet

Exactly. Just show me a team of the best players we can get and show me your fight. Want to see the hunger for winning. 100%
Corky Posted 27 May 2019 Posted 27 May 2019 It is part of the game now. The English game is becoming ever more popular to multi billionaires and I'm sure more and more will look to get involved. Either we look to sell ourselves or we try and compete as we are but it will get tougher.
HybridFox Posted 27 May 2019 Posted 27 May 2019 It's easy to focus on the negatives and point fingers at banknotes. But whatever happens with Newcastle and any other new takeover for that matter, we are ahead of them in the game. (We've won the bloody league!) Instead of worrying what they may or may not achieve, let's focus on ourselves and use the added competition to improve. If anything, it avoids complacency. We are about to have a world class training facility, stadium expansion and the future of our squad and management structure is looking very good. I don't wish we had other owners at all. I'm very proud of the legacy Khun Vichai has left and feel the club is still in great hands with Top. Having billionaire owners doesn't always guarantee a club is run well so count us lucky!

surrifox Posted 27 May 2019 Posted 27 May 2019 Surely the bigger concern is that Ashley has more funds to continue turning the nation’s high streets into a giant series of jumble sales
Wymsey Posted 27 May 2019 Posted 27 May 2019 Aside from the hefty wages most players are on, this is the joint-top reason why I think football is being used as an object for others' gain whilst the was-beautiful game itself slowly dies. It's just sad to see, really.
