Unfortunately with him and Maddison out it is unlikely we will get top 4 as they were both contributing greatly. Unless Vardy gets some form out of nowhere or Under steps up we are in trouble....

This is the big worry. I think if we can scrape through the next few games to the international break, things could start to look a lot better. We could have the majority of currently injured players back after that, and Barnes might not be too far off, either. Luckily, the next few are amongst the most winnable. I'm not giving up hope yet.

Yeah, Maddison and Barnes scored or assisted the majority of our goals in 2021. Need Ünder, Vardy and Albrighton to really step up.

obviously we do not know what happened on inside

but on outside, way dave rennie was treated seems mad. Our injury crisis last season was implied to be in part due to him, and since then our squad have broken down. Also feel the narrative at end of last year was so false about our injury crisis, we were up there for best records for muscular injuries(think saw in Athletic). Bloke also ensured our starting xi played nearly all played 38 games of highest intensity football in club's history in 2016 (our injury record that year was phenomenal)

Dave's PhD was on the effects of pitch conditions on injury risk. Hasn't there been a comment about our pitch being soft and needing fixing recently? And pretty much all of our bad injuries have come at the KP...

I hope I'm wrong, I cant see the pair of them scoring 5 between them

Which add in we haven't had a single goal from a centre half this season and its quite bleak. In fact set pieces full stop we are toothless at attacking and defending.

If Maddison is back in a few weeks though, there's still hope. We've only 4 games this month, 3 in the league that are all winnable without needing to be exceptional. We will have to somehow find a way to scrap for goals and get back to defending resolutely like we had up to last week.

Ndidi has looked very off the pace since that herculean performance vs Liverpool. Of he and Vardy can do what they're capable of and Ricardo and Castagne also show their true quality then we still have some real class with Tielemans pulling the strings but there's so little margin for error now.

This is why going out of the EL is a blessing. We simply could not sustain the games. With a fully fit squad maybe, but only maybe. As it stands we’re going to have to fight like hell to achieve CL qualification, but I think we can.

Yeah I am sure people will be very reasonable when we do not field a strong team in the FA cup...

To try and stay positive I'm pinning all my hopes on us being able to accumulate enough points in the next 3 to stumble across the line to the International Break.

After the International Break in 5 weeks time, we should have Morgan, Evans, Fofana, Praet, Perez & Maddison back fit with Barnes only a couple of weeks away and all of a sudden things look different again, these next 3 are season defining for me!

Am I right in thinking that Brendans past estimates for player recovery have been overly optimistic?

Yeah, I think it's a running joke on here now.

Like 6 weeks = 6 months etc

To be fair players tend to come back quicker than Rodgers timelines (Fofana and Praet both appear close to returning a few weeks head of schedules). What he's bad for is straight after the injury saying its hopefully not too bad when the players innthe changing room with their leg hanging off.

Dave was offered the doctors job full time and he didn’t want it as he works for a practice in his spare time. Leicester wanted a full time club doctor so they went there separate ways, he was great at his job but most top clubs have a full time club doctor and I guess that’s where we want to be. Don’t see the issue with it really 🤷🏻‍♂️

...surely a doctor and a physiotherapist are different roles!!!

One role is a specialist role and the other is what I assume is a general practitioner. Rennie may have been able to cover both roles but if he was tied to another Practice then you can understand the situation.

Having a specialist within the club as with a psychiatrist would be a good platform, in relation to players mental health and its effect in their environment.

hmm way i read in the media,, sounded like the club wanted a doctor as opposed to dave who they saw as a physio (i know dave has a PhD but he is not actually a Doctor of Medicine)

i may have read it wrong but have linked article below, which is where i got my inference from

https://www.leicestermercury.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/leicester-city-backroom-revamp-explained-4526442

(you may know more than me, but was always the way i understood it before you said the above)

Personally I don’t see why Dave couldn’t work along side a full time doctor, maybe the position wasn’t available it’s a shame because he was a big part of the team.

Barnes got a yellow card on Thursday.  He seemed to target his man.  Does anyone know if this is connected to his original knock?

Nope, because Rodgers said it was an injury that was being managed hence him not starting on Thursday.

...you would have thought so!!!

I suspect the club (via Rodgers) stating that we were one of a very few clubs who did not have a full time doctor, and we had a need to correct that, covered any issues there might have been in respect of Rennie leaving.
