Barnes - Scotland?

Wonder if this is a ploy from his Agent after seeing the likes of Hudson -Odoi get a senior call up after a similar newspaper report stating losing him to Ghana if not chosen for England senior squad??

I’d wait if I was him. With Maguire and Chilwell already becoming regular starters and Madison on the fringes, Grey knocking around the 21s we could be a great destination for young aspiring players wish8ng to play for England as the top club bias seems to hold less sway now. Unless he feels he’s Scottish of course. lol

I can terrifyingly see us becoming the football hipsters go to club over the next few seasons. lol

Besides playing for your country are there any other benefits for the player? Direct or indirect.

Better sponsorship opportunities and you get paid for international appearances (not much and players normally donate it to charity I think), nothing major though.

A chance to play for the Mighty Celtic Reserves,  if he impresses Chris Numskull.

Can't be arsed to read it. Does he qualify like Matt Elliott because he once ate some shortbread?

It was a battered Mars bar.

The Thai women’s team are better than Scotland, might as well see if he can play for Gibraltar. Anyway this does my head in, Scots, welsh and Irish always looking to English lads because their grandparents had a holiday there once.

With all due respect to Matt Elliott, he ate shortbread a lot more than once!

I think it's ridiculous some of the eligibility rules. It should be the country you were born in/ spent a significant amount of childhood and MAYBE your parents' country.

This is the kind of nonsense Ireland pulled to get Declan Rice on their books before he saw sense and went with England - the country where him and his parents are from

See? That look screams "what the **** have I done?"

He's doing that look that English people often do when a Glaswegian speaks too quickly and all you can understand is the swear words.
