How so when other European leagues such as Ligue 1 and Eredivisie have exclusive deals with domestic broadcasters? This is about the Premier League trying to maximise revenue.

I think they have a single subscription service for the Premier League in the Netherlands at least as well.

For those laying into the Premier League regarding the delay I would heavily imagine it's Amazon fault, although they probably should of made the package clearer instead of just making it two full rounds of fixtures without any KO times detailed.

I don't know about the others by I remember at the time of the split the EU were involved.

From Wiki

Coverage of Premier League now dominates football on English television, especially in financial terms; the contracts agreed between the league and broadcasters BSkyB in 1992 and 1997 were worth £191.5m and £670m respectively. Sky were also able to show more live games than previously, with several games live on many matchdays (originally Sundays and Mondays). However, the European Union objected to what it saw as a monopoly on television rights and demanded the 2007 contract be split into separate packages of 23 games; eventually Sky won four of the six available packages, with the other two were taken by Setanta Sports. Setanta went bankrupt in 2009 with its packages taken over by ESPN. From 2010/11, Sky have five packages and ESPN one. The top tier still has a presence on terrestrial television in highlights form on Match of the Day.[11]

The usual contempt for the matchgoing fans. Utterly pathetic.

It really is. Given they move around 4 to 5 matches per weekend, plus with the tight schedule over December the knock-on effect of other matches moving, the longer you have to wait it is harder to book holidays, travel etc.

It really is a disgrace however on the bright side they could be negotiating the Brexit deal and I bet that would have taken them 3 years. Oh hang on a minute!!

Seriously whenever the games are scheduled for I bet we sell out our away allocation and Watford, Norwich and Liverpool do likewise. In no other country would that happen.

The people responsible for this shambles are not worthy of the fans in this country they should be paying us not the other way round because without these loyal fans they wouldn't have a product to sell.

And that's why they keep getting away with it. In other countries fans have the bottle to protest, boycott etc. Bundesliga Monday night matches are now set to be banned because of such action.

Here we just moan on the internet and let them keep screwing us over.

Wouldn't work here.

There would be a long line of folks ready to take the newly available tickets. And the Premier League values it's global audience far more than it's match going fans.

Agree to an extent with the bigger fixtures. That's why in Germany a mixture of full game boycotts, in-game boycotts and other types of in-game protests were implemented. So the same people were still getting tickets, but actively making their voices heard. Again though, it's not the kind of thing we're minded to do in this country. The UFS five-minute protest at Arsenal in the title season attracted around 100-150 in a 3,000 away end.

And this is probably the best way to do it. Let's say the Leicester vs Liverpool Boxing Day game gets moved to 20:00 (just an example) and people are unhappy. The best way to show the TV companies that they can't take the p1ss is by those with tickets to stay away from the game (be that the first 10-15 minutes or even the whole game). It won't happen though, people just moan but are not willing to take mass action. Therefore TV companies can do what they want as they will still get the revenue. They're businesses who want to make as much profit as possible. Whereas a football club might actually look towards fans but even this doesn't happen.

The football clubs could step in and refuse ridiculous KO times, however, they benefit quite a lot from the TV deal. So it's only the fans that can take back control, no one else is going to do it for them. Either take action or suck it up.

Also a very different audience here. People actually enjoy a Monday night watching football, if you took a vote of even game going fans I doubt you'd get a result to ban it.

TV isn't such a huge deal in Germany for whatever reason from my experience.

It's something that has sort of crept up on us in this country and is now embedded and accepted as well. The Germans have the advantage of looking over at us preventing the same things creeping into their game.

Still it could be worse I think we still have it better than La Liga.

Yes, I agree with you on both points. The German FA and Bundesliga are constantly looking for ways to try and anglicise the sport over there, but the organisation is there among supporters (not just within individual clubs, but between them as well) to stop it because they've seen the effect it's had here.

The sad thing is if everyone who moaned on the internet bothered to get organised, the kick-off time problem would be gone within a season here. Instead, those who do are often sneered at for taking a stand.

Yep

But with second paragraph, again not convinced.

The Premier League legally can't televise 3pm Saturday games here, I am unsure how far they would go at the expense of having empty stadiums to maintain the number of games they televised to their global audience. It would take incredible commitment to long term protesting , they'd stick their heels in far more than the Bundesliga and like you say, we can't even get a one off done properly.

Not sure if anyone else has noticed but Premier League site still has our game against Watford listed for Tuesday 3rd December, with 4 games already scheduled for Wednesday 4th. Were these games already scheduled for Wednesday -have there not been any changes yet to those games?

Oddly they've taken off all the fixtures between 4th and 26th December, too...

Yes they are all original. However, due to games on Sunday 1st December, a lot of them need to be Wednesday (8 in total).

Announcement delayed until next Monday.

According to reports, the PL say it will be today or tomorrow with TV companies hoping today. PL say there will "definitely" be an announcement by the end of this week.

Apparently, and not unsurprisingly, the issues are conflicts of interests between TV companies and policing.

Ah okay.

Just wondered if those had been confirmed without any announcement!
