EXCLUSIVE By Pete O’Rourke

Leicester City defender Callum Elder is poised to join Hull City, Football Insider understands.

Hull have been tracking Elder for some time and Tigers boss Grant McCann is keen to strengthen his options at left-back.

Elder has come through the youth ranks at Leicester, but never made a first-team appearance for the Foxes.

The 24-year-old has spent the majority of his time at Leicester out on loan at Mansfield Town, Peterborough United, Brentford, Barnsley, Wigan Athletic and Ipswich Town where he has made over 130 appearances.

Last season he made four Championship appearances for Ipswich but played more in the Premier League 2.

A source close to Leicester has told Football Insider that the club is happy to let the Australian move on a permanent basis to Hull in a bid to kick-start his career by playing regular first-team football.

It's clear that he's not good enough to ever make our team so a sale is the best way forward. I wouldn't expect much as he's in his last year but owt is better than nowt.

I think he's done well to get a championship club on a permanent deal to be honest. Definitely about time he left, wasted the first part of his career.

christ has he fingered your mrs or summat?

good luck to the lad whatever his ability i say

Good move for everyone if it is permanent. He is older than most of our first team.

Known as the Elder statesman of the squad!
