Jamie Redknapp

Former Liverpool midfielder and pundit Jamie Redknapp has named his latest Team of the Week after the most recent round of Premier League fixtures.

Leicester were the story of the weekend before it had even begun. with the Foxes battering Southampton 9-0 at St Mary’s on Friday night.

Jamie Vardy and Ayoze Perez both scored hat-tricks while Ben Chilwell, James Maddison and Youri Tielemans were also on target during the biggest ever away win in the Premier League.

It’s no surprise that four of Brendan Rodgers’ side have been included in Redknapp’s Team of the Week, with Tielemans the unlucky goalscorer to miss out.

Meanwhile, Christian Pulisic announced himself as a Chelsea player with a perfect hat-trick – left foot, right foot, header – against Burnley at Turf Moor.

The Clarets came back into the game late on but Pulisic’s goals and a strike from Willian were enough to secure all three points.

Elsewhere Liverpool maintained their lead at the top of the table after coming from a goal down to beat Tottenham 2-1 while Manchester United edged past Norwich despite missing two penalties.

Things were not so easy for Arsenal as they blew a two-goal lead at home to Crystal Palace, with captain Granit Xhaka swearing at fans and storming down the tunnel after being substituted, but one Gunner still makes Redknapp’s Team of the Week

A better reflection of the influences in our team. Having said that, I think Tielemans was better than Maddison...

Just seen Garth Crooks team of the week. I know he speaks a lot of nonsense at the best of times but his summary of the Bertrand red card is absolutely woeful. To suggest that the decision was fundamentally the reason why Southampton got hammered and went against the spirit of the game is ridiculous.

I can't see how anyone can complain about the challenge which resulted in Bertrand being sent off. Yes, the conditions weren't great but everyone knows what comes when you raise your studs and don't win the ball. Had the ref not played the advantage I'm certain it would have been a straight red, regardless of whether VAR intervened or not. Rather than moan about the refs decision I think he needs to scrutinise the attitude of the player's as that was one of the lamest performances I've ever seen in over 30 years of watching football.

Premier League Team of the Week GW10

Leicester recorded the biggest ever away victory in the Premier League with a 9-0 thrashing of Southampton at St Mary’s on Friday night.

Jamie Vardy and Ayoze Perez both hit hat-tricks in the victory, ensuring that they make the cut in the latest Express Sport Team of the Week.

Liverpool were also victorious as they came from behind to beat Tottenham while Manchester United picked up three points despite seeing two penalties saved against Norwich.

Elsewhere, Christian Pulisic hit a hat-trick for Chelsea against Burnley while Arsenal defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos made an impact in a tumultuous match against Burnley – but who else makes our Team of the Week?

GK: Tim Krul (Norwich City)

The Dutchman has been in fine form this season and reinforced his reputation as a penalty-saving expert by denying Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial from 12 yards.

RB: Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool)

The young full-back was a constant thorn in Tottenham’s side at Anfield, driving the Reds forward and delivering countless dangerous deliveries into the box until the pressure finally told.

CB: Sokratis Papastathopoulos (Arsenal)

Sokratis opened the scoring after just seven minutes and thought he’d scored the winner late on against Palace, only for his effort to be ruled out after a questionable decision from VAR.

CB: Jamaal Lascelles (Newcastle United)

The Newcastle captain headed his side into the lead against Wolves after a delicious cross from centre-back partner Federico Fernandez and helped weather a later storm to preserve a point.

LB: Ben Chilwell (Leicester City)

The England left-back provided two assists and got on the scoresheet during the rout at St Mary’s, easily earning his place our XI.

CM: Fabinho (Liverpool)

A destructive performance from the Brazilian shackled Tottenham’s creativity, with Fabinho patrolling in front of the back four to great effect in the 2-1 win.

CM: Scott McTominay (Manchester United)

McTominay has been one of United’s most consistent performers in a dreadful run of form and helped himself to the opening goal against Norwich during a tireless display.

CM: Ilkay Gundogan (Manchester City)

Gundogan has stepped up in recent weeks with Fernandinho currently deployed as a makeshift centre-back and the German was superb once again, scoring a spectacular scissor-kick to cap an excellent performance against Aston Villa.

RAM: Ayoze Perez (Leicester City)

The Spaniard has found it tough to make an impression at the King Power since his summer move from Newcastle but Perez finally opened his account in style, bagging a hat-trick as Leicester battered Southampton.

LAM: Christian Pulisic (Chelsea)

Chances have been limited for Pulisic so far this season but he made the most of a rare start by scoring a perfect hat-trick against Burnley.

ST: Jamie Vardy (Leicester City)

Vardy took a while to get going against Saints as his team-mates filled their boots but the England international eventually got in on the act with three goals and an assist.

That is very fair, can't argue with any of the picks except maybe the centrebacks

I think Maddison was just as good, played very deep a lot so he may not have been as noticeable but he kickstarted a lot of our best plays and was very good at finding space

A bit short of a clean sweep.  Bloody hell !  Jonny, Caglar and Kasper didn't have enough to do.  And somehow our second striker went missing -- you might even say nonexistent !

I reckon Barnes is in there if Pulisic doesn't score a hatrrick. Regardless, that's impressive!

Here we run through the best WhoScored rated XI from the Premier League for the month of October (3 appearances).

Goalkeeper: Kasper Schmeichel (Leicester) - 7.51 rating

Kasper Schmeichel was practically a spectator in Leicester's record-equalling 9-0 win over Southampton but was still alert when called upon to make three saves and ensure the Foxes kept a clean sheet. The Dane also made six saves in their dramatic 2-1 defeat to Liverpool at the start of the month and three more saves in a 2-1 win over Burnley.

Right-back: Adama Traore (Wolves) - 7.83 rating

Adama Traore has leapfrogged Matt Doherty in the pecking order at Wolves this season, which is no mean feat considering the importance of the Ireland international last term. Traore netted his first goals of the season in Wolves impressive 2-0 win away to Manchester City at the start of October and typically completed 11 dribbles across his three appearances.

Centre-back: Chris Basham (Sheffield United) - 7.48 rating

Sheffield United went unbeaten in October, picking up draws away to Watford and West Ham either side of a home win over Arsenal. They conceded only once in that time and have the joint-best defensive record in the Premier League this season (eight goals conceded). Chris Basham has been integral for the Blades at the back and was particularly impressive in October. The 31-year-old won 14 aerial duels and completed 19 tackles and interceptions combined across three league appearances, as well as making 15 clearances.

Centre-back: Christian Kabasele (Watford) - 7.87 rating

Christian Kabasele's return to the team has certainly helped Watford become better defensively. Watford drew all three of their league games in October and only conceded once in that time. Kabasele was the WhoScored Man of the Match in their 0-0 draw with Sheffield United at the start of the month and his rating did not finish below 7.00 in all three appearances. The 28-year-old had a nose for danger in October, making more clearances than any other player in the Premier League (26).

Left-back: Ben Chilwell (Leicester) - 7.66 rating

Ben Chilwell became the first defender to garner a perfect WhoScred 10 rating in a Premier League match this season in Leicester's stunning 9-0 win over Southampton earlier this month. It proved the best performance of Chilwell's career, as the England international scored once and provided two assists in their demolition job at Saint Mary's.

Right wing: Willian (Chelsea) - 7.99 rating

Willian has rediscovered his best form for Chelsea over the last month and is even ahead of both Christian Pulisic and Callum Hudson-Odoi in the pecking order for places. The Brazilian played a direct hand in three goals in as many league appearances in October (one goal, two assists), while also weighing in with eight tackles and interceptions combined. Furthermore, only one player registered more key passes than Willian in the Premier League in October (9).

Central midfield: James Maddison (Leicester) - 7.75 rating

James Maddison is the third of four Leicester players in our best rated XI. The 22-year-old scored in two of Leicester's three league matches in October, including a scumptious free-kick in their 9-0 victory over Southampton. Maddison also weighed in with seven tackles and completed five dribbles.

Central midfield: David Silva (Manchester City) - 7.82 rating

David Silva finished the month of October with goals in back-to-back matches to help Manchester City cut Liverpool's lead at the top of the Premier League to six points. Silva has scored two goals in his last two matches, more than his first eight league appearances of the season combined (1). The Spaniard also registered five key passes and completed six dribbles across his three league appearances.

Left wing: Jack Grealish (Aston Villa) - 8.02 rating

After a slow start to the season, Jack Grealish has finally discovered his best form over the last month and is now on the cusp of an England call-up. Grealish, who is our Premier League player of the month, played a direct hand in three goals in as many league appearances in October (two goals, one assist) and was the WhoScored Man of the Match in their 2-1 win over Brighton. Grealish was fouled more times (13) than any other player in the Premier League in October and Dean Smith will hope the injury suffered against Manchester City will not keep him out for too long.

Striker: Tammy Abraham (Chelsea) - 7.59 rating

Tammy Abraham hasn't been at his most prolofic of late but the towering Chelsea striker was still a key player for the club last month, as they won all three of their league outings. Abraham played a direct hand in two goals in that time (one goal, one assist), while also winning 13 aerial duels.

Striker: Jamie Vardy (Leicester) - 7.97 rating

Jamie Vardy scored four goals in three league appearances in October and saved his best display until last after closing off the month with a hat-trick against Southampton. Vardy unsurprisingly picked up a perfect WhoScored 10 rating and rounds off our best rated XI in the Premier League.

On the red card, by all means allow for the conditions, but that had absolutely no bearing on the challenge. He didn’t slide in from far away, he challenged late, mistimed and high. It was about as clear as a red card could be!

The player has to account for the conditions as much as the officials do. But as you say, it wasn’t a nice tackle and could’ve happened in any conditions.

Good to see Ward in there. It looked like he made a bit if a mess of their goal, but I think it took a deflection. Apart from that he was pretty solid.

Yeah it was slightly deflected but the Burton player proper walloped it too. Had a great game otherwise.

Must have been better keepers than Ward?! Really surprised if not. I know he made one very important save; any others were fairly routine and then you have the goal they scored.

Nice to see Fuchs get some recognition! Tielemans was quality again for sure.

thought the Burton keeper O'hara played a blinder. nothing spectacular but came out quickly to make a few clearances when we could have potentially been clean through, did well on a couple of one on ones and was generally quite impressive. not much he could have done for any of the goals realistically
