Danny Drinkwater

Its been said numerous times in this the thread already, why just pick this one up.

Fif points still stand. Even if he doesn't have an issue with drinking, its the international break, a time when players not involved have a break, so he was fine being out in a club enjoying himself. The reaction to him talking to a girl is totally over the top, anything that ends in 6 blokes kicking the shit out of someone is over the top

I just happened to notice it here more starkly. Nothing more. No agenda. Chill out. I’m just asking if it is wise to post something as fact without having evidence to back up (unless there is some).

Pretty bad article to be honest. It sounds like it's based on a rumour from one source and the DM love an opportunity to sensationalise something and put someone in the public eye down at the same time

It's all about having a go at Danny and takes joy in sticking the boot in, almost with a smirk, about his career.  It completely misses the point that 6 mindless, violent thugs have supposedly tried to inflict GBH on a professional athlete.

No comment from Danny or his agent.  No comment from Burnley or Chelsea.  No comments from the club where it happened. No comments from the police.  Not even a call from the mail for anyone who witnessed the attack to get in touch with the police so they can be brought to justice.

The Daily Mail really is the pits.

Well the majority of comments here are just a sad reflection on the posters.

Firstly, Danny was great for us and a crucial part of our title winning season.

Secondly he had every right to go to another club and earn more money.

Thirdly this is a Mail article and clearly anti-Drinkwater as can be seen from the comment about his England appearances.

Fourthly, he has a drinking problem, has had it for a while and the league clearly is not helping him out with this problem.

Fifthly he is quite allowed to chat to any girl at a night club and even invite them home with him (whether that was drunken bravado or serious).

Finally the real problem here is the acceptance by some that anyone should be beaten up. Six guys ( not the girl's boyfriend) decided to break his legs and attempt to ruin his career further. It was a cowardly act and you should be up in arms to be living in a country where this actually happens. It is disgusting.

I hope that Danny recovers and gets help for his alcoholism and returns to top level football.

This is the best post I’ve ever read on here! Nail on head and perfectly sums up my thoughts. Well done

If he was chatting and had no idea she was with someone then yes and the other bloke is at fault. If he knew she was with the other bloke then hes been a knob played the game and got caught. If he took the gamble he dont deserve the sympathy.

Weird article!

“He also kicked a ball around for the England team in 2016 at The National Stadium in Wembley, London, in a friendly before the European Championship Finals.”

Not quite sure what you mean here?

It seems to say that six random guys - nothing to do with the lady in question - should be allowed to get together and kick the crap out of someone on the streets of England, potentially ruining his career (certainly shortening it).

As for the DM's disdain mentioned in other posts, I find it sickening. If Ben Stokes had been broken by six guys outside a pub after his heroics for England the other week would the DM have taken the same attitude?

As I said if he knew she was with someone and still tried chatting her up he dont deserve sympathy.

Is it just me, or is this a weird way of saying he has an England cap.

Reads like someone trying to get the word count up on an essay.

I think this says more about your own character than anything. I don’t think anyone ever, in any situation deserves 6 blokes kicking the crap out of them, no matter what they have done.

Thought he'd hit rock bottom when he was essentially retired whilst at Chelsea.

Turns out there's rock bottom then there's whole other layer of shit until you get to this.

Sort yourself out Danny lad, get some decent people around you and you may just make something out of the final years of your career.

Read this article this morning and was a bit sad.

Danny played crucial role for us not only in our 2016 title win but was our star player in our championship title. His passing ability was excellent. When he left for Chelsea I thought we got a good deal but certainly not as a good as a deal as it looks now.

He seems to have lost all focus with respect to football but I hope he finds that again. A Leicester legend who had some great years down here.

I remember that pass to send Vardy through in the 3-1 win at Man City as pure class. That’s the Danny that got us a 35m fee.

I'm surprised about the reaction of people in here.

We don't have the whole story. If he was knowingly trying to take home another player's girlfriend, then that's a pretty scummy thing to do. But there's no evidence for that, and even if there was, I think having 6 blokes jump up and down on your ankle shouting "break his legs" is not a proportionate response.

Yeah, the circumstances in which he left us were rather disappointing, and he has made some terrible decisions, but his career has pretty much tailed off since, which I think is karma enough. I don't get any pleasure from seeing a bloke beaten up by a gang of thugs.

Spot on.

Well said mate.

Is it fact that he’s an alcoholic though?

Not sure why this confuses people.

Probably says as much about you. So you think it's ok to chat up an attached female. As I said if he did not know she was with someone fine. But if he knew she was at the club with someone he should have behaved.

Had he behaved he would not of got hurt.

Why laugh ? The guy is obviously broken and going no where ! He still helped deliver the only premier league we are likely to ever win , how about a little compassion and condolences about how he has gone and wasted it all , alcohol is obviously an issue for him I hope he can get the help he needs and sort his life out , he left us for a better deal but in the end he now lost his missus , his career and dignity !

Nothing to laugh at

Imagine wanting to laugh at someone getting their head caved in and having their leg stamped on by 6 fellas. Some “fans” need to get over themselves.

not a nice thing to happen

Wow, is that the world we live in? You chat to the wrong person, you get your legs broken? And people think this is okay?

So he chats up someone’s Mrs. if he knew she was attached, then, yes it’s a poor move from Danny, but you seriously think that makes it okay for 6 blokes to beat the crap out of him and break try to break his legs?

Mate, if you seriously think this is okay, you have serious issues. If society thinks this is okay, then we have a broken society.

I’m shocked and a bit saddened if I’m honest that people think this is okay in any way.

Hopefully Dyche grabs him round the scruff of the neck and gets him going again. If he can manage Barton, he can manage anyone! Danny is having a bit of a crisis it seems at the moment and Dyche might be the ideal manager to help him pull through it!

Why are the DM even showing him wearing a LC shirt in the story headline picture?

Its hard to find a picture of him in another clubs shirt.

I hope that you're just joking/winding people up.

Firstly not sure what an attached female is supposed to signify. She wasn't a married woman but even if she was that doesn't mean she belongs to the husband. You might be surprised to hear that there are a lot of married and unmarried people who are actually happy to be "chatted up" or even have sex with someone who isn't their partner. I don't necessarily agree with these actions but it isn't against the law and it's quite common.

Secondly getting hurt (especially when we're talking about a group of 6 causing GBH) should never be the consequence of talking to someone - even if that is trying it on with a lady who is dating someone else, in a club, under the influence of alcohol.

You do grasp the fact that these 6 men were not connected to the lady don't you? She wasn't the property or girlfriend of any of the 6 guys. It would seem they were simply "football supporters" being as they actually knew who Danny Drinkwater was (none of my non-footballing friends would have any idea who he was if they met him in a night club) who wanted to cripple a footballer.

tbh your defence of these thugs is disturbing. I hope that they are found and punished under the law of the land.

Danny Drinkwater is becoming more of a premier league system failure than anything else. It must be a difficult place to be inside his head at the moment. The football league needs a better plan to help these young kids survive becoming good footballers.

Sad to see so many so called Leicester fans revelling in the misfortunes of a double title winning ex player. Hope nothing bad ever happens to you lot

Really dont think its a case of people revelling in his misfortunes,  winning the league with city dosnt give you a do what you want card for the rest of your life or does it , those moralists among the deeply offended by any negative comments on here brigade might want to ask themselves that.

the article on this from a certain red top tabloid has photos of his bruised face+black eye fwiw.

Hope Drinky is able to get the much-needed support for what's an obvious problem for him.
