Gerard Posted 8 September 2019 Posted 8 September 2019 Out for four weeks after getting beat up after trying to chat a Scunthorpe Utd player's girlfriend up. You have to laugh. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7439469/England-star-Danny-Drinkwater-29-attacked-gang-six-thugs-outside-nightclub.html
Nod.E Posted 8 September 2019 Posted 8 September 2019 Average age of the girls in that place is about 18. You do you, Danny.
Jaspa Posted 8 September 2019 Posted 8 September 2019 Do hope it doesn't escalate further. If that's how it's gone down, again, he has no excuses. The last situation where he crashed his car under the influence also had a female lawyer involved who he was maybe trying to impress. Nigel called him a complex character and this Chelsea move/failure seems to have brought the worst out of him. Don't wish ill on any of our title winning lads, hope he gets it sorted off the field and then on it.
urban.spaceman Posted 8 September 2019 Posted 8 September 2019 Personally I feel quite sad for him looking at his progress since he left us.
VIKTOR-LE5 Posted 8 September 2019 Posted 8 September 2019 Think he needs some back up time to call the Baby Squad and Headhunters down to save his honour. Joking aside that's why i don't go out, it only takes one prat to cause mayhem, get well soon Danny
Master Fox Posted 8 September 2019 Posted 8 September 2019 Thanks for the cash Chelsea. Makes up for losing N’golo for pittance.
Guest Markyblue Posted 8 September 2019 Posted 8 September 2019 Great player for us but my sympathies go to hard working blokes who struggle to make ends meet not spoilt millionaire footballers.
shailen Posted 8 September 2019 Posted 8 September 2019 He should have never left us and would probably still be in our team if he hadn't. Instead we've upgraded and got maddison and Tielemans in there.

Couldn't agree more. I've said it before, but I'll never understand why someone who works hard, or creates wealth or jobs, is a 'fat cat' if he is paid well, but a bloke who has a bit of skill with a football, and paid an obscene amount every week, is a hero.

The guy is obviously broken and going no where ! He still helped deliver the only premier league we are likely to ever win , how about a little compassion and condolences about how he has gone and wasted it all , alcohol is obviously an issue for him I hope he can get the help he needs and sort his life out , he left us for a better deal but in the end he now lost his missus , his career and dignity ! Nothing to laugh at

The bloke has always been a complex character, Pearson and Ranieri alluded to it. He might have issues that he's never faced and it's time he did as his life seems to be spiralling out of control.
Tielemans63 Posted 8 September 2019 Posted 8 September 2019 Says a lot that whenever these stories have cropped up over the last year they feature Danny in a Leicester shirt - he left 2 and a half years ago. That might suggest that not playing regular football has affected his mental health a little. Only good thing about his move to Chelsea is that he must live a lot closer to the Advanced Hair Studio now. Otherwise he seems to have gone off the rails a bit. This classic gutter press stuff, there is no evidence that he knew this girl was another player's girlfriend or even that the two events were actually connected. I really hope he does well at Burnley and gets back on track. Still an LCFC legend in my eyes.
Charl91 Posted 8 September 2019 Posted 8 September 2019 I'm surprised about the reaction of people in here. We don't have the whole story. If he was knowingly trying to take home another player's girlfriend, then that's a pretty scummy thing to do. But there's no evidence for that, and even if there was, I think having 6 blokes jump up and down on your ankle shouting "break his legs" is not a proportionate response. Yeah, the circumstances in which he left us were rather disappointing, and he has made some terrible decisions, but his career has pretty much tailed off since, which I think is karma enough. I don't get any pleasure from seeing a bloke beaten up by a gang of thugs.
Jimothy Posted 8 September 2019 Posted 8 September 2019 Is it just me, or is this a weird way of saying he has an England cap. "He also kicked a ball around for the England team in 2016 at The National Stadium in Wembley, London, in a friendly before the European Championship Finals."
Guest Posted 8 September 2019 Posted 8 September 2019 Well the majority of comments here are just a sad reflection on the posters. Firstly, Danny was great for us and a crucial part of our title winning season. Secondly he had every right to go to another club and earn more money. Thirdly this is a Mail article and clearly anti-Drinkwater as can be seen from the comment about his England appearances. Fourthly, he has a drinking problem, has had it for a while and the league clearly is not helping him out with this problem. Fifthly he is quite allowed to chat to any girl at a night club and even invite them home with him (whether that was drunken bravado or serious). Finally the real problem here is the acceptance by some that anyone should be beaten up. Six guys ( not the girl's boyfriend) decided to break his legs and attempt to ruin his career further. It was a cowardly act and you should be up in arms to be living in a country where this actually happens. It is disgusting. I hope that Danny recovers and gets help for his alcoholism and returns to top level football.

Gazza M Posted 8 September 2019 Posted 8 September 2019 I think he has decided Chelsea was his peak when he moved from us. His body let him down and now just lost. Very sad.

Its been said numerous times in this the thread already, why just pick this one up. Fif points still stand. Even if he doesn't have an issue with drinking, its the international break, a time when players not involved have a break, so he was fine being out in a club enjoying himself. The reaction to him talking to a girl is totally over the top, anything that ends in 6 blokes kicking the shit out of someone is over the top

Especially as the headline says England star. The state of journalism in this country is shocking.
