I hope that you're just joking/winding people up.

Firstly not sure what an attached female is supposed to signify. She wasn't a married woman but even if she was that doesn't mean she belongs to the husband. You might be surprised to hear that there are a lot of married and unmarried people who are actually happy to be "chatted up" or even have sex with someone who isn't their partner. I don't necessarily agree with these actions but it isn't against the law and it's quite common.

Secondly getting hurt (especially when we're talking about a group of 6 causing GBH) should never be the consequence of talking to someone - even if that is trying it on with a lady who is dating someone else, in a club, under the influence of alcohol.

You do grasp the fact that these 6 men were not connected to the lady don't you? She wasn't the property or girlfriend of any of the 6 guys. It would seem they were simply "football supporters" being as they actually knew who Danny Drinkwater was (none of my non-footballing friends would have any idea who he was if they met him in a night club) who wanted to cripple a footballer.

tbh your defence of these thugs is disturbing. I hope that they are found and punished under the law of the land.

Danny Drinkwater is becoming more of a premier league system failure than anything else. It must be a difficult place to be inside his head at the moment. The football league needs a better plan to help these young kids survive becoming good footballers.

Well said, wouldn't wish violence on anyone,  but this is the way of the world I guess. The guy needs help, hope he sorts himself out.

Imagine wanting to laugh at someone getting their head caved in and having their leg stamped on by 6 fellas. Some “fans” need to get over themselves.

not a nice thing to happen

I think it’s jealousy , It’s a british disease wanting people to fail  , hope Danny can get help and sort his life out , I’ll never forget his time here and all he did

When I said earlier that theres nothing wrong with him being out enjoying himself during the international break, I still think that in the main, certainly any player not called up has a week off. Its disappointing from Danny's point of view that after a nightmare couple of years at Chelsea and a couple of off field problems he's been given a new start and doesn't appear to be taking it. He well with in his rights to go clubbing, but in his positions I'd prefer to see him having a quiet weekend and putting some extra training in.

He’s a grown man who makes his own decisions and recently he’s been making consistently poor ones. No body deserves to be kicked in by 6 blokes but Drinkwater needs to stop putting himself in these situations. The writing should be obvious and clear on the wall yet he keeps making bad decisions.

Its sad to see but I think he is beyond help at this point and will keep spiralling. He’s nearly 30 and he shouldn’t need a constant arm around him to keep him on the rails, we all have to mature at some point.

I hope he sorts himself out purely because of what he achieved here but its not looking likely.

Great player for us but my sympathies go to hard working blokes who struggle to make ends meet not spoilt millionaire footballers.

I'm usually the last to gush over celebrities but Danny Drinkwater wasn't born with a spoon in his mouth, he's a lad that's had to graft for what he's got with a genuine talent.

You look at the incidents that he's gone through in the last few years and his career at Chelsea and personally I see a guy that probably needs help tbh. Lad looks a bit of a mess.

It's not the behaviour of some cocky playboy, he looks like someone seriously struggling.

Not sure why having a bit of cash makes him undeserving of your sympathy. Money can't solve the sort of problems he's got can it?

DD is pushing 30 in the most competitive league in the world, with waves of fast, skilled, hungry young players always trying to get in.

Ignoring any moral judgment of his behavior …  it’s totally incompatible with valuing the chance to return to that league.  You can’t see Dyche and Burnley giving a lot of rope to a player who hasn’t performed at PL level for 2-1/2 years.

If football is still the answer for him, he might have been better off loaned to a Champ or League One side where he could again become a valuable part of something bigger than himself, rather than a guy on the fringes trying to shake the “failure” tag.  But IMO it’s no longer about whether he returns to football fame, it’s about sorting himself out.  If he can live a useful and fulfilled life, that PL winner’s medal will be all the glory he needs in his old age.

People suggesting this is all Drinkwater's fault for hitting on the 'attached female', yet not once in the 'article' do we hear if the women was encouraging him or had even pointed out she was taken. Whichever it is, nothing makes it acceptable for 6 blokes to kick the shit out of him to try to break his leg. Personally hope they get caught and punished for their actions.

As has been pointed out a few times, the League needs to and should be trying to help players struggling out at times like this. You'd hope the PFA would be trying to get DD in touch with people who could possible help him out.

Wow, first I’ve heard of this.

I mean, I’ve managed to go 32 years without striking another human being in anger. It wasn’t difficult. What is wrong with some people?

The bitterness and vitriol on here from some is bizarre. It’s football FFS. Nobody deserves to be attacked.

The alcoholism hyperbole is also horseshit. We don’t know his circumstances whatsoever.

To me, all of the lads from the title season became 'one of our own' I'm not sure how Leicester fans can view any of them negatively. They are fully immortalised in our history.

I like to think that someone at the club has reached out to Danny to offer him some guidance and support through what has been a bad time in his life. He seems to be a troubled guy and these type of situations keep happening to him.

He's not far away from chucking away everything he's worked for.

The people who are responsible for these injuries are scum whatever way you read in to this.

Sad to see him in this state. Especially a title winning player. Needs help, needs someone to keep him grounded.

Hope everything turns out for him soon. I really enjoyed having him as a LCFC player.

As much as I think trying to break the guy's legs is a bit much, I'd love to see the reserved reactions of those appalled by it on here if their other halves were chatted up by someone who refused to take no for an answer. He's clearly acted a twat and he has form.

It's a shame but the guy clearly has a problem with booze and I dare say the bond he had with a lot of players with us kept him from straying. Simpson alluded to players having left us and struggling and I really don't think it's all that presumptuous to think Drinkwater was one of the main sufferers of that.

Winning the title with us doesn't make you immune from criticism when you act like a turd.

This.

You can understand Leicester fans getting behind in support of a title winning player, but even the most hardened of fans has to acknowledge that it's known he's a bit of a tool.

Not condoning the attack on him but if you act a pricck for long enough, something is likely to come of it eventually. Especially when you're turning up at cesspits like Chinawhite.

In the same way that I wouldn't take a sympathetic view of him catching an STI after regular visits to a brothel, I won't be here either.

Not actually as much of a grand metaphor as I'd planned, in hindsight, such is the clientele of Chinawhite lol

Well the majority of comments here are just a sad reflection on the posters.

Firstly, Danny was great for us and a crucial part of our title winning season.

Secondly he had every right to go to another club and earn more money.

Thirdly this is a Mail article and clearly anti-Drinkwater as can be seen from the comment about his England appearances.

Fourthly, he has a drinking problem, has had it for a while and the league clearly is not helping him out with this problem.

Fifthly he is quite allowed to chat to any girl at a night club and even invite them home with him (whether that was drunken bravado or serious).

Finally the real problem here is the acceptance by some that anyone should be beaten up. Six guys ( not the girl's boyfriend) decided to break his legs and attempt to ruin his career further. It was a cowardly act and you should be up in arms to be living in a country where this actually happens. It is disgusting.

I hope that Danny recovers and gets help for his alcoholism and returns to top level football.

Isn’t it a little dangerous to suggest in writing he is an alcoholic?

Of all the points to raise from @FIF''s post, this is the one you choose to cotton on to?

Cool.

It’s not that though, it seems like some people revel in their failure. I just personally wish them all the best, each to their own though.

It would be good to see lcfc reach out to him re: getting some help for his issues.

I know he's not our player anymore but that shouldn't matter. There's still apart of him  thats lcfc and no-one can take that away.

Says a lot that whenever these stories have cropped up over the last year they feature Danny in a Leicester shirt - he left 2 and a half years ago. That might suggest that not playing regular football has affected his mental health a little.

Only good thing about his move to Chelsea is that he must live a lot closer to the Advanced Hair Studio now. Otherwise he seems to have gone off the rails a bit.

This classic gutter press stuff, there is no evidence that he knew this girl was another player's girlfriend or even that the two events were actually connected. I really hope he does well at Burnley and gets back on track. Still an LCFC legend in my eyes.

They're a lot easier to find than pics of him in a Chelsea or Burnley shirt tbf, rare as hen's teeth!

Why?  He has the means to seek out the best professional help money can buy, family and friends around him (I presume) and a current employer.  His issues are nothing to do with LCFC.
