Don't want to put a dampener on things but Read an article just the other day (cant remember where) that was basically banging on about man utd and Maddison and it mentioned that city were looking to improve his contract but stated that his agent reported that they were nowhere near a deal and that it was unlikely that anything would be signed before the end of this season.

 

Probably all made up TBH either that or agent trying to up the ante and put the hurry up on things?

I very much doubt whether any rated players will move during the January window. The brain - dead media will rabbit on and on about it but nowt will happen. I don't know what our players earn but it will be in our interest to keep them among the highest earners in the premiership. If you don't waste money on dud transfers you can do that.

Maddison and Chilwell are on long term deals already, and the club cannot afford to keep adjusting their salary upwards every 6 months. Having said that, I think Maddison deserves a raise alongside Ricardo. Chilwell though is already reportedly on 70-80k and if he is going up to a reported 100k, Ricardo (who is way better though not English) would rightly feel hard done by on reportedly “only” around 70-80k a week, and then Tielemans ...

English players (Good ones) have a premium on them ....... it’s just the way it is 
 

Ricky p won’t mind - he isn’t that kind of guy.  Probably the same with YT ...,,

Exactly, but he's on a long contract anyway and I don't think he's likely to do a Marhez because if he wants to play for England, he's going to need to be playing games, play well, and after his casino episode, prove himself temperament wise to a certain Mr Southgate.

Can’t see anyone important leaving in January and in any case let’s just focus on - and enjoy - the here and now.

 

Results over the next few weeks will probably go a long way towards shaping the future of our club (and the players’ ambitions) anyway.

 

The promise of champions league football next season is a massive dangling carrot for everyone.
