You really do wonder what defensive work we do on the training pitch, consistently one of the back line are 10 yards behind the rest, they’re pulled all over the place positionally and there appears to be zero communication. You would love to play against this backline, and I think Liverpool will!

A full back should not be marking a centre forward at the back post. End of. If the CF moves the CB should stay with him.

Those claiming he was at fault for not competing/winning the back post header on Sunday. Have missed the fact that there was a forest overload and he had two to mark when the forest cross was hit. Yes he didn't win it. But had his defensive partners been in attendance he could of concentrated on marking the one man and setting himself for a better leap. His shortcomings recently can only be seen in the context of the wider defensive malaise.

Would put way more blame on Wilf for this goal.

 

JJ was the only player who actually tried to compete with VVD for the header because Wilf lost him completely

lol. You can see before the corner, Ndidi isnt trying to get past Matip and Amartey so he can be touch tight with Van Dijk. And then you can see on the replay that he's got a free run at the ball. Not even close to being Justin's fault.
